There is so much to do and to learn it will take at least three years for us to even put in for our visas, if we even get that far.
Oy! it makes my head spin, but it has been an over 10 year dream to go and live there...
I used to want to go and become a a full fledged geisha. This was almost ten years before the movie "memoirs of a geisha". but I am too spirited, and I was told that i am a foreigner, so i couldn't be, so i let it go. {only later did I find out about Liza Crihfield Dalby and the thought that if I did runaway {pfft not ever really possible} I might have had enough time to succeed} but i still admire and am fascinated by Japan; it's culture, history and technology.
I will copy and paste some background that was in the introduction thread and hopefully it will make sense;
It will take us over three years to get to japan, and during that time I will be finishing my bachelors of science for major and arts for minor, we will be learning the language and culture.
My husband took Japanese language classes in high school and college, but he does not have a college degree. I have my associate degree in applied science, but I know more American Sign language than Japanese.
As for my children... there are international schools but I would like them to join the Japanese schools as quickly as possible.
We have a long way to go....
I have already spoke to my mother about this, and she wants me to do what we think is best, of course she has questions and will continue to have questions. She has already moved across the country, so we skype a lot.
But she has admitted not having an interest in Japan, and my interest/passion for Japan and it's culture has puzzled her at times. She loves her mountain and feeling safe, secure. I like adventure, I know things don't go as planned, but I find ways to get things done. I am adaptable. But I can be impulsive and moody.
My husband is the planner and keeps my feet on the ground. So working together we will succeed with our goal and do a good job doing it.
I would like to study cultural anthropology, I really like that kind of history and culture. "What makes people tick" type of thing; Why do people do the things they do? where and why do different cultures come about? does every culture have unspoken rules? with certain ideals in cultures for instance in Japan... from a outsider the geisha are one of the mysteries and wonders {well at least to me it as been} There are so many unspoken rules and things i wouldn't be able to research because the culture protects its secrets. i wonder if all cultures have this? Also in the Ireland, the folktales, us Americans or yanks couldn't really understand even if someone would talk to us about it, or the old cultural gangs of New York. or all kinds of things! But I also would like to do other things; like to make a computer game franchise for different career titles, like fashion designer, architect, teacher, engineer, etc. etc. Or take historical events and then putting people in that time era and see how they could change history and what it may look like, but also how they can make those changes for "today" but this has not been a passion until this year. Bachelor of science covers anthomology and bachalor of art covers computer animation and writing skills.
But I am researching different avenues too; if I continue into nursing or anthropology then perhaps I can apply at an embassy or something along those lines. For our children, i have a few schools in mind. But first i have to finish my degree.
my Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Certificate coarse will be a back up plan.
Most of my job experience has been in customer service, and I guess I may have to focus on a bachelor of business administration degree if i want to be able to use it here or in Japan.
