Day 3

Not a terribly serious blog, of course. Most of this is in good fun and humor. Satire. I thought since I was learning Japanese with a more serious endeavor, I would satirize my journey to some extent. I would very much like to get to a point where I'm fluent in Japanese to enrich my own life. Anyway here we go:
I forgot to post yesterday. Was too busy goofing off and being a lazy good for nothing human. Cabin on the lake vacation looming on the horizon; Not looking forward to it.
Been writing down the first 27 kanji on a notebook to review during the vacation. I initially wrote them in romaji but I figured I would do the "on" readings in katakana and the "kun" readings in hiragana. So proud that I figured out why the online kanji dictionary was using katakana and hiragana letters at, what seemed initially, random.
Going to finish up by writing up to seventy kanji. That gives me a goal of learning roughly ten a day. Give or take a day. It's slow going but only because I've gotten sidetracked and have been reading etymology of the various kanji. They look cute. Was able to deciper the reading for goat and kawasaki. Kanji for goat is a conjunction of mountain and sheep; Kawasaki is a combination of point and river.
Watched a video last night on a linguist discussing how long it takes, in general, for an average human to learn a language. He also discussed methods or strategies for which people could learn a language faster. Had a fancy website, so he must be telling the truth, am i right?
Talked about how you should build up your vocabulary first and then work on grammar. Most of the struggles in forming sentences is because of a lack of vocabulary, and not necessarily lapses in memorizing grammar rules.
That was my theory too based on previous experiences. Maybe I should have a website too. Anyway he said about one year. Just for everything to sink in. Assuming one hour a day, every day. For a few months. Something like that. And that's just to become "familiar", and not fluent.
That reminds me, I watched Julia and Julie the other day with a friend. Wasn't my idea. Man points have been diminished lately. Must think of a way to make more. Maybe, drink more? Anyway, maybe I should do the same thing. Write a year long blog about my journey in learning Japanese. Maybe will get picked up as a movie. Maybe get offered cold hard cash. Maybe.
Also watched a ten minute video about someone discussing kansai ben dialect. It was funny. Not because I thought the accent was funny. Rather, because all this time I thought Kansai Ben was actually someone's name. Ben apparently means dialect. So Kansai Ben is Kansai Dialect. Not, some guy with a nickname of, "Kansai Ben."
Anyway. 43 more Kanji to go.
