Finally made it back home after a couple of nice days in Sydney. It was sunny blue skys leaving sydney...and it was a little depressing when the air hostess said "The temperature is now 9 degrees so keep warm everyone" as we landed in Melbourne haha. Bring on Spring~!
We stayed in a hostel a few streets from Kings Cross in Sydney and for those that havent been to Kings Cross its...uhh...one of the more "seedier" streets of Sydney. Its actually got a lot of clubs but its also notorious for strip joints that offer you "free entry" and offer "free alcohol" provided you also take the "extra services" that they offer....at upwards of $500 a half hour....so I'm told. These places also hire huge thugs to spruik their business and try "recruit" pretty girls or try to get guys to head in for some "free drinks".
On Saturday night I was strolling down Kings Cross with some of my male friends when we were approached by a rather large italian thug trying to get us to head in one of these fine establishments for a "sample". One of my friends, Nick, was all for it and wanted to head inside. but another one of my friends, Tim, who is a lot more shy and reserved instantly went bright red and didnt want to go in. The thug instantly detected this and zeroed in on him...much to Nick's amusement. My poor friend had this big italian guy standing over him in his ear about "hot chicks with big tits" and his face burning bright red and Nick wasnt doing much to help by trying to convince Tim as well.
I tried to diffuse the situation by saying we werent interested....but that wasnt enough it seems. The Italian guy literally took my shy friend by the arm and walked across Kings Cross to the club to get one of the girls to come outside to meet him. I couldnt believe he did something like that! Of course once he let go I grabbed Tim and said "look we're not really interested...so sorry mate" and walked off with my friends in tow.
Nick thought the whole situation was hilarious and wondered why the heck we didnt go in. I told him the only reason they want you to go in is to get you drunk enough so they can get your credit card and err charge you "extra services". Nick of course decided he wanted to go see the strippers so he went off without us.
Tim felt terrible so i told him it was OK and he had nothing to worry about. He said he felt like he ruined the night for us but I told "As if I would wanna go in a place like that anyway lol". So we called up Elise a friend of mine in sydney and she came out and had a few drinks with us in a pub.
The next morning...Nick came back around 6AM...quite intoxicated...and yeah...he handed them his credit card...
I really wonder how much they charged him...I'm too scared to know rofl.
