I had a bit of a break from learning them due to my exams, but now I can officially say, they're over!

Now though, time to focus on Katakana, and Kanji!
Hopefully though, Katakana will be over as quickly as the Hirigana was :D just gotta buy LOADS more index cards ;P

I'm hoping that learning in advance will benefit me when I start studying for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test in University ^^

I hope I'll do well! :D

Yay congrats! Just be sure to practice what you learned. I learned mine the week before finals and took a good week or two off from looking at them to study and then when I looked at it again I couldnt remember a thing... x__x

Where did you gudys get the index cards from and how are you learning? Can I self teach? And if so, how would you suggest I do it? Thank you

I just bought some blank index cards from the 99 cent store and filled it out with the hiragana then the katakana. I dont use the whole card. I got the ones bound by the spiral, divided it into sections of 6 and cut down three lines so that its still attatched so that way I can flip and mix it around and not lose my cards.

You dont need to buy anything special. Some people are even eco friendly and use anki but I dotn really like it because I lie to myself with anki.

The katakana should go a bit more quickly because there are some similar (even same) shapes as the hiragana. I would imagine learning this in advance would indeed give you an advantage. If you're able to read them without much effort and can focus more on the words (vocab) and grammar, it'll help those stick more too. Good job!
