Dear native English speakers,

Would all the sentences be used?
(a) This tree is getting taller and taller.
(b) This tree is getting higher and higher.
(c) This tree is becoming taller and taller.
(d) This tree is becoming higher and higher.

Thanks in advance.
Hirashin

Taller is better than higher. Taller implies a continuous length, higher implies distance height from the ground. For example, a building is tall, people in the building are high.

Becoming and getting have the same meaning.

As Nahadef has already said, use (a) and (c). If you're trying to suggest that the tree is increasing in height, honestly I would just say, "The tree is growing taller and taller." But "becoming" and "getting" do work as well!

Oh, "grow" also works! Thank you for the useful information, tasqunevie. By the way, in what language is "tasqunevie", if I may ask?

You're very welcome. C'est le français (フランス語?).:) T'as qu'une vie basically means you only live once (have just one life).
