Dear valued Members,

as discussed in this thread, the rules governing the donor status here at JREF have been revised, with the amended rules taking effect today. In the past, one donation, regardless of the amount, would result in a promotion to the donor usergroup for an unlimited period of time.

As of October 2016, donations will grant members access to donor privileges for the period of one year. Members who have donated earlier in 2016 will have their donor status extended to 30 September 2017. Generally, your donor status will commence on the day we receive your donation.

Donations can be made
  • via Paypal or
  • through bank transfer (please contact us in such a case).
We have introduced the following (secondary) donor groups:

• Donor I (Bronze) for an annual donation of 500 JPY.

• Donor II (Silver) -- 501-1,000 JPY

• Donor III (Gold) -- 1,001-2,500 JPY

• Donor IV (Platinum) -- 2,500-5,000 JPY

• Donor V (Top Donors) for donations exceeding 5,000 JPY

We will contact previous donors by Private Conversation. If they do not wish to continue their donor membership, their accounts will be reverted to the usergroup corresponding to their current membership status.

We can only offer small perks to our donors. Below are some of the additional privileges they will enjoy compared to the most senior "regular" usergroup on the right (Sempai):

In the future, donors will also be able to browse the website without any display of advertising. However, please understand that we need more time to fully implement this feature. Currently, only unregistered visitors will see advertisements.

Thank you for your continued support! Please post any questions or suggestions right here.

What happens to your +2GB of media when you get demoted from unlimited to back to Sempai?

I'd rather the ads left on. It supports the site, which is my whole reason for donating, and they don't bother me.

I ad block any site which is abusive of the advertising use, but I barely notice them here.

You will no longer be able to upload media, but none of your files will be deleted.

Thanks Wonko, whatever we decide on in the end, I'd like to keep the ads at a non-intrusive level.

Seems fair! Ha, I remember first donating as a teenager. That was so long ago, oh man! I'll be sure to send you some cash via PayPal with my next paycheck. Best of luck with the forum, thomas!

Thanks @Nuala , and nice to see you back! :)

Thanks to recent generosity, we have decided to set up an additional Donor group (Donor V - Top Donors) for those who contribute more than 5,000 JPY. All donations are used towards maintaining and hosting JREF.

I have updated the first post in this thread to reflect those changes. Thanks again for your benevolence, and let me remind you that donating has never been as inexpensive as it is now (especially for our US members). :)

I have just checked, and it appears to work. We received a donation yesterday. What happens if you click the link?

404. ill see if my work-around works.
edit: it didn't. maybe turning off extensions will work.
nope. 404 again.

That is weird. Are we talking about this button?

On this page?

I have just checked it in Firefox, Chrome, Edge, and Safari (iOS), logged in and out, and it worked. Could it be an adblocker?

Anyhow, I appreciate the feedback!

@thomas, the donation link being in the bottom menu was never seen by me. Just saw it today and went for it.

I really think that this website deserves it.

I also echo what @WonkoTheSane mentioned about keeping the ads on. I mean, people should appreciate the efforts and contribute towards that.
