My father who fought the Japanese in WWII basically disowned me and told me not to return to Maine if I married her. And all for naught , she refused to leave her mom or Japan as we had planned. O well , I ended up with a cherry of a wife from England and a lot of interesting memories and lessons on life.

Yup we dated for 2 years and she was studying. She finished her studies and went back to Japan permanently a couple of days ago and we broke up mutually. During that time she went back to Japan a few times, each a couple of months. I posted a picture of us on facebook to say thanks for all the memories we created and then got deleted straight away... Guess she had found someone during one of those trips back to Japan...

Moreover, many parents do not approve a foreign boyfriend/husband for this reason. Exceptions are there of course..

Exactly why I thought OP was a guy. Sorry! Maybe then even more so, with being gay not being accepted by parents or something in that direction. Maybe she does not want to come out in Japan.

I got the impression that our OP put it on facebook and the young Japanese lass only responded there. I presumed that possibly part of the anger and immediate blocking which followed was in reaction to the outing.
