TiTech IGP Questions

I just got the package today and one of the document tell us to refer to Necessary Preparations for Coming to Japan for MEXT Scholarship Student (International Graduate Program) | International Graduate Program (Degree) | International Students | Prospective Students | Tokyo Institute of Technology for further information.

So, I think you guys can expect the package to arrive in a few days. :)

How nice your country's post still have delivery even in weekend. Looking at my tracking number, I predict that I should receive the documents maybe around tomorrow or Tuesday.

One thing I notice is that there is no air ticket application in the package. Any idea how we are going to deal with this ?

Is there any other explanation from the document that you received about what should we sent back to them? Is it only pledge and id card application or any other?

There is no other explanation but the one that tell us to go to the website I posted

So, just pledge and student id card application.

I think it should be asked to the international student division.
My friend who got the MEXT research student said that the Air Ticket application was sent to her email though

Finally, I've received the MEXT documents.
However, there's no air ticket application form in the package.
I think they will inform us later as stated in the website..

Anyway, congratulation for all of you..

Hi, I am new here and I am so glad i could find a thread on MEXT.

Is there anyone here who is planning to go with their family? Any suggestion on a place to stay for them?

Hello tenjyoin.
According to this page :
"If you are bringing your family to Japan, we recommend that you first come alone and secure suitable accommodations before inviting them to join you. It may take some time to secure proper accommodations for a family."
But if you really want to come together at a time, you can search an apartment in Japan.
Good luck :)

Thx man, what about the flight ticket? Has anyone here booked their flights? I see no forms to send to Tokyo Tech to inform our expexted arrival date

It's written in the link that Flight Tickets Forms will be given later by the Student Support Division.

For those who are planning to stay in the dormitory, what are your plans? Which date would you touch down?

As for me, I am considering touching down on the 25th or 26th to give myself ample time for preparations. For that I might consider paying a half month rent. What are your thoughts?

I'm thinking the same as you. I'm planning to arrive in Japan on 26th because we need to do a lot of things there before class start on October e.g. creating bank account, unpacking stuffs, and of course get enough rest. I decided that after I asked my professor, so you should ask yours too.
For the first few days in Japan, I think we need to adapt first so I will probably pay a half month rent too. I've heard from my friend that Nagatsuta house is the farthest from Suzukakedai campus so you might consider that if Titech gives you that dorm and your lab is in Suzukakedai.

Glad to know someone has similar thoughts. I have contacted my supervisor on this matter, but he has no preference to which date I could arrive. My lab is in Ookayama, so it's very unlikely it will be Nagatsuta house.

If that's the case, you can arrive whenever you like. In my opinion, best date to arrive is on 26th so you can go sightseeing on the weekend :D

Same here, when will you arrive and enter the dorm? I will arrive and enter the dorm on 26 September

Probably 29, but I'm not sure yet. What time will you arrive ? Anybody will go pick you up from the airport?

I will arrive at 7.10 AM. My professor said that he will send his student to pick me at the airport.

Man that's so nice! Which airport will you land? My professor asked me to take the bus since it's too early :(

I am arriving on the 26th too, 7:40 AM though! My dormitory is at Komaba though...

I think the immigration process can take a while plus For me, I will have some breakfast, etc. Also the dorm open on 10 AM. I think I must hang around in the airport. I will arrive at Haneda because it's closer to Umegaoka

Ah nowonder... mine is at Narita, which kinda explains about why it's troublesome for someone to pick me up :P. What type of flight are you taking? If you are not taking low cost flights, I think breakfast is served on flight before landing though.

Honestly if you guys got Umegaoko, it's so much more worth it paying half the month's rent.. that dorm is just so cheap.. mine is double of Umegaoko and has an additional admission fee which is equivalent to one month worth rental.
