Uncertain form of どんな and どの (substitute for か)

The title came out quite messy. What i'm trying to get the hang of is whether or not i can use どんなか or どのか to say stuff like "She's reading some book" and "I see some kind of statue"
I've read somewhere that どんなか，どのか are unacceptable, while だれか、どこか、何か are perfectly OK.

Sure: あの木の後ろで何らか動物が走りました。
Although i've never heard or seen 何らか before. Probably just haven't paid attention. Is it common to use it?

How about these two sentences:
1) あの木の後ろで何か動物が走りました。
２）あの木の後ろでどんな動物が走りました。

It must be 何らかの動物.

#1 is OK, but #2 doesn't work.


どんな and どの are both attributives. Unlike 誰, どこ or 何, a noun is needed after it.
e.g.
彼女がどんな本を読んでいるのか知らない。
I don't know what book she is reading.

壊れているのはどの像か教えてください。
Please tell me which statue is broken.
