Is this translation right?

ただそれだけを心の支えに 必死こいてやってきた

With just that for support I became desperate.

やってきた can mean just "has come/came here", but probably ～てきた would express continuous action in time line(from past to the present) there. What's the context?

It's considered それだけを心の支えにして, as same as イースターを前に.
召すas an euphemism to "to die" and "を前に主のもとへ"
