MEXT Scholarship for Postgraduate 2011: General Discussions.

Dear friends!!!
I need your assisatnce . My supervisor said to submit original documents.
Should i need to send him original my documents? Means i need to send him hard copy or photo state copy of documents? please help me in case, I am worried that how can i send him my all original documents.
About medical certificate, what copy i should submit ? original or photostate (Hard copy)of it.

The instruction is very clear. You need to submit original documents.

If you have some problem with that, tell him about it. But I really don't see a problem with submitting original documents unless that document cannot be requested again from your country.

From my experience, the they require the folllwing documents:

Passport - Photocopy only
Birth certificate - certified true copy from your country
Health certificate - submit original
Diploma - certified true copy from your university (with english translation for my case)
Transcript of records/grades - original or certified true copy from your university

oh...so I have to wait till MID February. Such a long time. But University allocation should be informed by embassy fast. Cos Since 10.12.2010, Embassy just told me that i pass and ask me to learn some Japanese. To which university I am allocated to is not informed yet. I think I should be informed faster so that I can contact with my professor for some document to prepare for entrance examination.

Currently I am supper happy, but also worried cos embassy not provides enough information yet.

I heard that we might get the letter between 15th of January and 15th of February

Hey guys and girls,

Hope you all had some fantastic holidays with your friends and family!

I wrote an email to my supervisor at todai if he already knows if mext will send me there and he answered me 'you will belong to our lab. don't worry about it. bla bla bla we are looking forward in meeting you in april'. So I guess I will be sent to todai?!

Now I am super happy and super scared at once! I don't know any japanese yet! and I am entering the PhD course directly. So I will be over there for 3.5 years. This is sooo far away from home and such a long time...

How are you people doing and what are you thinking- am I the only one here who is scared?

Does anyone know when the Japanese language course starts in April and when we are going to fly over to Japan? I can't stand the waiting anymore!
Plus- will we be able to fly home in holidays?

Is there anyone else who is going to todai?

Entran exam to move from rerearch student to master student. Oh anyways, i heard that this year, money will be deducted from each candidate 20000 yen each month. Not sure if it is true. Anyone heard of same info.

I am pleased to come to know your answer and preparing documents likewise. I think, My supervisor asked all this things which you have mentioned.

I want to know one thing more about medical certificate.
Do i need to submit original medical certificate? or i save original one and send him just photocopy of medical ceritifcate.
Now i am in china and i did not take my original certificate along with me. so I have not original one , just have photo copy. Is this ok? thank you again

send him the original. keep the photocopy to yourself.

there is absolutely no need for your to keep the original health certificate because you can't use it for other purpose. MEXT has its own health certificate form, right? a photocopy is good enough for your record keeping purpose.

From the info gathered by some members here from mext website, the stipend for research students will be reduced from 152.000 to 150.000 per month.

If it is the health certificate, it should be the original.

Dear ykk...i have been following your posts for quite a time and well...please stop make things harder for yourself. I understand this scholarship can be very important but not that important that your life may loose its meaning without it. Never let anything sit over your head or else it will someday piss over you! Remember this advise for everything in your life!! Then whatever happens... happen.
A true warrior never complains or gets disheartened of the result/fight. His existence means he has to fight...he is alive means he has to fight all over again and he do it with full determination!
PS- I have been rejected from almost 15 scholarships over a time of two years before making it to MEXT. I never lost hope...slowly yet surely I worked my daily life keeping my eye on what i really wanted!

Me, but I didn't tell them my preference about the dormitory, because the mail said we cannot choose.
Anyway, Komaba is much better than Soshigaya.

Me too, I think I'm going to Todai. Did they tell you that we could be placed in Jasso dorm or University dorm. I want to be placed at University dorm, but the staff said, "most" of the mext students are placed at one of the Jasso dorms. T_T
