MEXT Scholarship for Postgraduate 2011: General Discussions.

@Akmal, remember that it's never too soon to start a the same topic gathering all 2012's candidates ^_-!!! lately there's been some users that appeared in this thread asking some question regarding the process. Be sure to read all this topic (maybe you can search for some keywords like "research proposal" and such) and ask as much as you need.
My first advice is, since you have still many many months until next year's deadline: think about what you want to research. Don't worry about the proposal yet, that will be a piece of cake when you already know what to study.
ykk, thanks alot for your reply!

The main problem is that I don't know, what to research. Can somebody from accepted guys share theirs research proposal, this will help me alot). It is only suggestion.

Another question is, is it good to have work expirience when applying for a scholarship? I have 3 years of work expirience, should it help me?

Hi Shenoo, ykk and everybody in this nice forum
I have also received the same letter as shenoo. I have been selected as a substitute candidate according to the results of the secondary screening.
But I am next to shenoo in embassy ranking, so I am considered the second substitute candidate. This means that I have almost no chance of being updated as regular one.
:smoke:
The possibility that two regular candidates cancel their application is ZERO percent

I got a lot of experience during these few months. I wish all of you good luck.

Ykk, I have updated your list. I have ordered countries alphabetically, so my country will be number one

👍

Arab republic of Egypt
Bulgaria
Burkina Faso
Canada
Germany
Indonesia
Iraq

Peru
Poland

Congratz for the MEXT scholarship winner..
I ma sorry if my question is OOT, but could anyone who held Associate Degree participate in this MEXT scholarship?
I want go to Japan and pursue higher study......sooooo Baddddddd........

Hi, everyone. I'm posting from Mongolia, congratulation to people, who accepted 2nd screening.

I've passed research student 1st screening in August. 8th Dec I've got phone call from Japanese embassy and told me I was accepted 2nd screening. And embassy coordinator told me "It is not the final decision you will arrive in Japan for study. Now MEXT going to find university that able to accept you. After found university, MEXT will make decision where you will study. After all this process we going to call you again, its around January, 2011".
So 2nd acceptance is not final, is it?

I hope get good answer for it. But still waiting :).

Its my first post in this forum. I'm glad to find this forum by google :D.

Still no news from my embassy :(

@ralukchris: Thank you for sharing your research project! It was a GREAT idea to build a webpage. Future applicants: you should have that method in mind, it will impress your prospective professors for sure!

@lukechamber: you should ask yor embassy, I have no idea. I think we don't have that kind of degrees in my country

thanks, ykk. The idea was not mine, I found a page like that on the internet while searching about how I should prepare for my research plan and what is a research schedule. Can be seen here: Lars Martinson's Information Page
It was helpful when i had to send emails to professors. It was easier to ask them to click on a link and check it out than sending documents which would fill their inbox and that they would have to download in order to view.
ykk, I hope you will hear good news soon! We're all cheering for you! Until then, keep thinking positive!

😎 Good luck, ralukchris ! Have the best of times in Japan! (as a fellow Romanian I just had to say this ^_^)

Hey ho guys!

I am happy and scared at once! Got the email saying I have officially passed the second screening 2 days ago! Holy moly- its all getting 'real', until now it was 'Yeah, I may go to Japan for at least 2 years in April, but lets see'. And I still don't even know Hiragana and Katakana...

How big is the chance to get rejected by the unis? I got an official admission in to a Phd program at Todai and 2 LoAs from Kyoto Uni and Tohoku Uni - so I acutally see no reason why they shouldn't accept me?!

All the best to all of you who are still waiting.
Cheers!

Thank you karinkitoka for your optimism:(:( and I hope all things will be fine.
you're welcome brother, you know sometimes when things go wrong with me,i just keep reminding my self about the verse216 of al bakara(the cow)"and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not. "
:-)

ykk, thanks alot for your reply!

Good luck ykk with my best wishes.

Hello everybody, I told you that I was going to tell you the news right away, so here I go:
I have just recieved a mail from the lady from the embassy that informed me that I am an alternate, again.
As you know, the odds of me finally recieving the scholarship are very very slim.
Still, I am asked to confirm if I still want to be an alternate or not. I don't know what to do. I've come so far, that my heart says "just hang in a little more" but I am so devastated that I don't know if I can still manage some future dissapointments. My family and boyfriend don't want me to go over this again, I am usually a very cheerful and happy but this things really turn me into other person, not even a person, a shadow.
This is not the post I wanted to write but is the sad true.
I wish the best in your life to all of you, you have been the most amazing people I have ever known online, with all your support... god I wish I could know you in real life.
For all of you finally going to Japan, enjoy it for me too.
Live your dream.
I can't write anymore sorry

ykk,
I am so sorry for you. I am really convinced that you are the most suitable person for this scholarship. I don't know how they (embassy staff) could take such unfair decisions.
In such situations, I always tell myself (This is God's choice, and there is nothing better than God's choice). We don't know what future prepares for us. You may have better chances in other directions.
I hope you overcome such disappointing condition, and try to forget the past and look for the future.
All the best.
