a simple question

Hi all, I've came across this sentence and was wondering if there's a typo error: 彼は一匹の犬が森に捨てられいるのを見つけた。

because from what I know I think it's supposed to be 捨てられている/捨てられてる? or is this an acceptable "short-cut" ?

is it true that in informal situations 捨てられている can be 捨てられてる (omitting the い) , but it will never be 捨てられいる (omitting the て)?
