Hi everyone!

I'm a 39 year old Australian male, and will return to japan to live in the next 6 months or so. I lived in japan for 11 years and speak good Japanese, and plan to move back to Tokyo.

I am planning on buying foreclosed property in and around Tokyo upon my return, and researching this is what brought me to this forum.

I look forward to chatting and sharing information with you all!!

Yuroshikuuu!!!

I see! Wanna buy me a house around Tokyo while you're at it? Have a good time and please contribute to the forum.

Thanks Thor!

I'll do my best go contribute to the forum. I've a actually been looking for a japan based forum like this, and there don't seem to be many around. Most have either very slow traffic or are too heavily moderated to have a decent discussion..

Hi JonnyAndDeeDee,

Welcome to the forum. You should be able to find some information about buying property in Japan.. I saw that you already posted in one thread regarding that. There are some members on the forum that bought property so I'm pretty sure that they will be able to give you good advice.

What are you planning to do in Tokyo? Teaching, or something else?

Anyway, enjoy your stay, and have a look at the links in my signature, you might find some interesting information in it.

I'm not exactly sure yet what I will be doing. Foretunately, I am financially secure enough to not have to rush into anything. I will send one car per year back to Australia as a personal import, which will mean $10k + per year, and hope to find other such items to profit from, but other than that, I don't have any work lined up...

How do you go about earning money by sending cars back to Australia? Are people paying you to buy them and have them shipped?

^ simply buying and selling them myself.

You are allowed one car per year as a 'personal import'. You must own it for 3 months in japan before you can do this.

Used cars are cheap in japan, and expensive in Australia. Do the sums..
