MEXT Scholarship for Postgraduate 2011: General Discussions.

@pout: 🙂 yeah the hardest part in all this application process is waiting ... but try to relax , have faith in yourself and believe that you can do it ! Good luck in your interview tomorrow ! it's gonna be alright and you'll get this scholarship Insha'allah :-)

Do you mind if you share with me which Uni you are applying?
Actually, I haven't applied for any university yet. Just have some professors in mind that I would apply for. Because I realize that the chance for getting the scholarship is low and if I cannot get recommended by the embassy, all the things I have done before would be in veil. I'm actually quite lazy, so....

@damas17: thank you for the help :D I really appreciate it~ I'm still nervous as heck but I can't wait for the interview tomorrow; I just want this to be over since the waiting is killing me! Next week is going to be so hard. I really hope I get this.
What about you? Have you been contacted, yet?
good luck for the interview. Hope to hear good news from you tomorrow.

Do you mean you have already handed in the applications to the WASEDA university already?
I think if you are recommended, they will most likely put you in a public university like the University of Tokyo or Kyoto , than priviate universities due to the budgets.
Until next Thursday, we'll see if we get the chance for the interview or not. I haven't prepared anything for the interview yet, in case if I haven't been selected...

O....I didn't know that they prefer us to enter public universities ...
Hm..There is a week's time between the notification of interview (if being noticed) and the interview. I think time is sufficient for preparation.
I am not so confident to get an interview because of the research proposal. You know, the research proposal is taken into account to determine the chance of getting an interview. Indeed, my bachelor's major does not require us to write any research proposals. This is the first time for me to write and I just wrote two pages of it. Now I am kinda regretting why I did not write much more.

0-0 Wow, deadline has passed for NY already? And undergraduate dates haven't even been set there? The application is the same for all the scholarships here, and I think we test on the same day too. Then again, ours is only for people in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, and New Mexico, so there'll probably only be around 3 of us.

As for the interview, I can't help you, but you can find a few accounts and there's one from the US, but not NY. Not much information about it really. I've been looking myself.

@aimane: I really hope that I get it~ and you got that right; waiting makes my stomach hurt, unfortunately :D

Hope you and damas17 get contacted, do great and get a scholarship each :3

good luck for the interview. Hope to hear good news from you tomorrow.

Thank you, thank you! I certainly need all the luck I can get :p

As long as you've been clear on what your research is going to be about, and how you're going to get the results/information you want, you're in the clear. I didn't write that much for my own research proposal, yet I'm getting interviewed tomorrow. Don't worry too much :3

Really? I just thought that if the research proposal and GPA and other files are ok, then they will ask us to take the tests. And then if the tests' results are ok, they would ask us to join the interview.
Or is it as you said, that they would ask everybody to join the tests and then based on the tests and handed materials, choose those who would enter the interivew.
Anyway, I'm not sure if they would be that critical on the proposal, because I don't think the embassy has experts on every aspects of our majors. I just think if we go into details in the proposal, they might not really understand it.
Well, three days to go until this Thursday.

Thanks zid for your words..
I thought so...I need to wait for AYF..but until today it's hard for me to just forget about Postgraduate (Research student) scholarship after waiting for this chance almost a year...such useless :(
but i think, it is more useless if I keep crying without do anything right?
Emm....I need to do something :box:

that's the spirit...

furthermore, you're still young right? you can take up Japanese Language class as part time to help improve your chances... as opposed to me, this is my last chance as next year i will already pass the age limit...:mad:

(yes... i'm that old)..

I guess the latter, every appplicant is eligible for the test.

Hello, everybody!
I have a question for those who have already written test for Japanese:
1. Is there in a test for the Japanese, as in 2006-2008, the task of "write in hiragana characters reading"? It is very important for me:)

Thanks!

I see. Then they would judge us on both the application files and the test results which makes me more nervous.
Anyway...
As far as I know, the quota of the scholarship for Hong Kong and Macau altogether is 4. And the number of applicants that were able to get into the interview last year is 14 (out of 40).

Really nervous

I need help in written exam

Hello Everybody, The written exam will be in 13 June here in Algeria, so would someone who did the exam this year tell me about the subjects of the comprehension texts, so I can familiarize with vocabulary. and if he would give us some more details about the English test.

for the Japanese Test i'm very very beginner in Japanese, so shall i answer or NOT?

Please reply me as quick as possible  🙇‍♂️

You must have some friends who have gone through it last year, right?
I see there were like 24 of us attending the tests that day, right? Don't know how many would get into the interview.

Just get the call from the embassy. Interview will be on 17th, for me in the morning. They require me to wear suits and be there at least 5 min earlier.
Hope you will hear it sooner.

Thanks, man. Interview is just a selection process, and it's still quite far away from the final results.
Hope you will get both as soon.

When they say "research programme", if you are intending to apply for master, you would still be writing one presumably. But obviously, it's going to be different from that of a "research programme" right? Because after all, there will be taught modules... are you suppose to put those down as well? And wouldn't research be differ from uni to uni?

I am not selected because my undergrad major is not related to Economics

Hey qwie,
I haven't been able to log in for the past few days due to tight work schedule. Yeah, it's nice knowing you too. But still, I had always believed that when there's a will, there's a way. I had my fair share of experiences being unlucky in so many ways so I know how it feels. I'm having fear now as I may pass the test but not the interview. And I guess that's what people have termed as luck...getting the right thing at the right time. Well I wish you all the best in your future undertakings :)

I'm sorry about that. But have you asked them about it? The lady at that day said they will inform us at around this Thursday. So maybe they haven't finished informing the others yet.

Now we are on the same boat and I will attend it before you... And that I'm super bad at interviews.
