Dear valued members,

we have upgraded the forum and the blog module to their latest versions. Also, we have finally switched to the new forum styles.

You can choose one of the following styles

- JREF (red default style)
- JREF Tatami
- JREF Blue

Also, we have set up a JREF page on Twitter

=> http://twitter.com/JapanReference

which will serve to inform you on updates, changes, downtime, etc. at JREF. 🙂

Can you please make jRef 100% again, I have a pretty big monitor and wouldn't mind seeing the page fully stretched.

I like the new look. It's more serious and professional, and more fitting of JRef. It could use a tad more flair, but it is good.

Very nice, but I'm with Emoni. It could use a little flash.

I don't know if this came with the change, but I find it unproductive to force users to register in order to read topics or posts. I found that today as I linked one of the topics to a friend of mine and that screen appeared, I tested it afterwards.

I think that will limit the introduction of new members in these boards. :/

I think it has too much flair, to be honest. Well, it's certainly more flashy than before.

I agree, to be honest.

There are no limitations for guests to read threads or posts (apart from the Member Lounge and member profiles). If you have found such, kindly point them out to me.

So is there no chance of jRef 100%? Also, did we just get new images for edit quote etc.

I am sorry, currently there are no such plans, but that doesn't rule out the possibility of adding other styles in the future. And yes, we have changed a few of the buttons we had been using since 2002/3.

In the event that you are only concerned about 'legibility' of the posts' contents (as in simply wanting 100% when reading), then I'd suggest putting the particular thread you happen to be reading on, or about to read, into print out mode (under Thread Tools ). Then the page goes to 100%, and is much easier for serious reading (and on the eyes, in a way).

Otherwise, if this isn't what you are concerned about, sorry....

Thanks, Mars Man, works like a charm. Isn't it nice to learn something new every day? :-)

Oh indeed, both links I've provided to my friend were from the member lodge. I never noticed that it required a previous registration.

Nevermind about it then. :sorry:
