Hi All,
Just want to say hello and introduce myself. I'm a minority group, white, Jewish, South African living very far from my homeland. I've done and seen most things and am not easily shocked or surprised by much anymore. People say I'm opinionated , they may have a point. I loook forward to retorts , rebuffs and comments ( good and bad) on my posts. So , to all , thanks for allowing me to have my say , for what it's worth.

Hello, disgruntled san.

What brought you here to Japan?

Are you studying at a college here?

:-)Hirashin

Hi Youkoso , thank you for the warm welcome.

Hi Hirashin san,
At my age I'm a student of life , the college days are long in the past . I'm semi retired and came to Japan with my Japanese wife to be closer to her family as I have no living family of my own in South Africa .

Hello, disgruntled san. Thank you for your reply.

I'm afraid I don't understand what you wrote about yourself.
Are you a Jewish person and from the Republic of South Africa?

Do many Jewish people live in the South Africa?

Are you happy with your life in Japan now?

Hirashin

Hi Hirashin,
You are correct . I'm a Jewish person from the Republic of South Africa ( R.S.A.) . There used to be a large Jewish community in RSA , unfortunately after the 1996 general elections ( sometimes called the 1st free elections ) many of the Jewish community left RSA for other countries . Many whites left RSA , not just Jews . Of course most went to other English speaking countries such as Australia , Canada , United Kingdom and the USA , some went to the Neatherlands ( Afrikaans speaking whites ) but some took a chance and went to non English speaking countries .
As for being happy . I'm very happy in Japan but I did not leave RSA because I was unhappy there . My life did not change much when I came to Japan , much of the Japanese culture is the same as that in South Africa , so it wasn't too different except for the langauge .
Thank you for your interest . I look forward to talking again with you .

Disgruntled.
