Anyways, Hi! My name is jessica and I found this website thru a search engine. I was looking for the how-tos on banking in Japan. I will be studying abroad next year for a semester in Osaka. This website is quite helpful for someone like me so I thought I would join. Besides I could make friends
So a little about myself: I'm from California (unfortunately not the cool california like LA, San Francisco, Orange County, Malibu, etc. etc.)
I am a University student graduating with a Business Degree with a concentration in International Business. I plan to work in Japan, for Japan, something with Japan. Been interested in Japan ever since I watched my 1st anime: Cardcaptor Sakura (I think everyone encounters Japan thru anime/manga)
I know a some conversational japanese but the reading and writing....let's just say I'll be studying...
Well I hope to meet quite a few tomodati here and maybe make a penpal or 2. Who knows?

Good luck in your studies; I noticed you're using the kunrei-shiki romanization style, might I recommend taking a look at the Hepburn system? It seems to be a lot more popular, at least in all the materials I've seen.

Also just had to say that not everyone encounters Japan through anime, although it is getting more ubiquitous these days.

Hi I'm actually from the Valley in CA. To be honest, the most notorious valley city, Modesto.Home to the city with the most stolen cars in the U.S. and home to Scott Peterson (google him if u don't know).
I know I'm using the old style of romanization cuz I have been taught with it. My Japanese teacher prefers it for some reason.

Thank you for the welcome. I currently bought a lot of japanese language materials from a website I found. If I find they are worth the money, I'll write a review on the product. I've bought quite a few things 2 learn Japanese but only a few were actual gold mines.
