My travel agent has picked out the following hotels for me and I am curious if anyone has had any dealings with them, how much english they speak and any cool tidbits.

Kadoya Hotel (Tokyo)
Roynet Hotel (Matsumoto)
Tanabe Ryokan (Takayama)
Castle Inn (Kanazawa)
Aranvert Hotel (Kyoto )
Westin Castle Hotel (Nagoya)
Pan Pacific Hotel (Yokohama)

🙂 thanks 🙂

Is that Matsumoto as in Nagano, Matsumoto--which it more likely is--but just to be safe. I have never heard of Roynet Hotel, unless that's a short form for the Royal...something downtown.

If that is Matsumoto, I'll check it out for you. If that IS Matsumoto, as in Nagano, Matsumoto, I'll make sure to take off and show you around town...unless it's a Friday night that you may be here.

Glenski thanks for the tip.

Mars Man here is what the travel agent said:

On the morning you would board a train at Shinjuku Station, and head into the Japanese Alps by Limited express train, to Matsumoto. This would give you the chance to visit Matsumoto Castle , and small hidden Sake breweries within the City. Matsumoto is a city that has amazing views, with snow capped mountains all around it, with a more relaxed lifestyle, a definite change to the bustling Tokyo.

It is on a Friday that I will be there

I've stayed at that Roynet in Matsumoto. Very nice. Comfortable queen-size double bed, large plasma television, bathroom and shower I could swing a small rodent in (which is large by Japanese standards). I was staying in a deluxe double-room - worth the extra 1000 yen over the standard.

Very central location, near the "Old Rock" British pub, there's a Skylark restaurant on the ground floor for all your dining needs but check out the fish and chips at the British pub - very nice.

Is Matsumoto/Nagano far from Osaka? If not, I really would like visit you.Since you can speak English and like to show around. I am ready to contact you anytime!

Check on Hyperdia or Jorudan: looks like it is a couple of hours from Nagoya: also has a website so Google it: lots of info

I've stayed at Hotel Sunroute in Tokyo, Takadanobaba; I think that is a good hotel (3 stars, internet on room and in the lobby).
Bye!

Hyperdia and Jorduan are great. Thank you!
Aren't they just?!! I have yet to even get to Japan, but have been able to plan SO much with these sites: amazingly helpful. Hope you have as much fun as I have had with planning: I always feel that's actually just as much of a holiday: the anticipation, then the fun of actually having it all happen. Good luck.
