I've always preferred Coke over Pepsi. To me, Pepsi is too sweet. In my younger days, I used drink RC Cola (it is difficult to find these days) or Tab.

Coke always tastes better out of a glass bottle (those are rare, too nowadays). I detest cola out of aluminum cans. They just don't taste right. Also, it is said that aluminum from cans have been found in the brains of Alzheimer's victims. So that's another reason for me to avoid aluminum cans.

I picked coca cola since pepsi can be too sweet sometimes.

i get RC or generic off brand colas when i can or sometimes even Jolt if it is around.

i actually saw Jolt 3x in Japan over the course of 6 weeks when i was there.
one machine if i ever make it back i will check because i remember where it was.

Ok, well, I love diet Pepsi, bottles only, no cans. I hate regular Pepsi and would chose regular Coke. I prefer diet Coke from a soda fountain over diet Pepsi from a fountain. I don't like any soda in cans. They all taste metallic. As for the acid in them, it's silly, the acid in your stomach is stronger than the acid in soda!

So how do I vote. I am drinking a diet Pepsi in a 12oz bottle as a write this!

I'm not knocking anyone here for drinking this stuff as I used to drink it in my ignorant days and often had various illnesses that I thought were normal. I'm just trying to point you to the facts. If you still want to drink it, more power to you. The medical industry will love you for it.

Uhmmm, not really. Who's being silly now? Did you do the research? Check out this link by a fourth grader for more info.
The reason I did this project is to see what pop might do to your
stomach. I found out that you should not drink pop on an empty
stomach, especially Coke, because it is acidic and could give you an ulcer or a really bad stomach ache.
Phosphoric Acid, one of the ingredients in Coke and Pepsi has a pH of 2.8 and CAN dissolve a nail in about 4 days in it's pure form. Sure, it is diluted, but drinking it on an empty stomach or many a day and you are in trouble not to mention the massive amounts of sugar which is addicting and does nothing but harm to your body. Over do it and your immune system cannot overcome it and disease sets in.

Then sadly you are slowly killing yourself and opening yourself up to many of the common diseases today.

Diet Drinks?!?!?! Aspertame, or whatever they are calling it today (it used to called saccharin) is a deadly neurotoxin that was mistakingly discovered when scientists working on the US Air Force's biological weapons mistakingly tasted it and discovered that it was sweet. It was originally a biological weapon designed to mess up your brain. Today, it is used in diluted forms as an artifical sweetener like Equal and in soft drinks making millions of $ and making millions sick and killing them as it costs next to nothing to produce.

Don't believe me? Check out this link from a former FDA (Food & Drug Administration) investigator or this one listing what it does to the body with links to other investigations.

If you are drinking it stop now or face the consequences in your later lives. My brother died three years ago at the age of 48 of pancreatic cancer and he drank this stuff daily, my mom is suffering from diabetes and other ailments and she drank it daily also. Me? I haven't touched it in over 10 years and am in perfect health. I also stay away from all sugars and milk and eat little meat. Sure, I eat some things with sugar and enjoy the occassional hamburger and steak, but only like once a week and in moderation, but never milk!

When you have enough money and can line the pockets of the FDA and government officials for their re-election campaigns, you can get anything into the food chain. Just look at what is happening with the food from China and the government is still not doing anything about it.

Don't take my word for it. Research it for yourselves and if you still drink that poison then I hope you have good life insurance and a good medical plan.

I leave you with this:

COKE
1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.

3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

Coke or Pepsi or Dr. Pepper, etc. Pick your poison because that's exactly what it is.

Wow Pachipro, that was a very interesting post. I don't drink any as I am a cross country runner and we stay away from carbonated drinks. Now I think I will stay even farther away. Although, I can't promise I won't indulge every now and then in Coca-Cola :).

The acid in our stomach is still stronger than soda...it takes a soda four days...well your stomach acid can do it faster. Everything today is gonna kill us....I have better chance of being killed in a car crash, but I still drive my car. Cheers!

Very True. But, then why are you worried silly about earthquakes in Tokyo? LOL:-) Same thing.

I've never bought Coke or Pepsi, but after seeing all those other uses, Pachipro, I might just get some!

When I was small, I was very short (compared to other girls), thin (very small appetite) and prone to get sick (lots of absences from school).

In my frequent bouts with cold during winter and loss of appetite, the family pediatrician used to recommend that, if I'm not eating well, I drink Pepsi. He told us that Pepsi contains the enzyme pepsin, that would help my digestion.
Pepsin in Wikipedia

In the case of Coca-Cola, I've heard that it initially contained cocaine, which was regarded to have "health effects."
Coca-Cola in Wikipedia

Wouldn't it be fun if they still contained those? 😊

As for me (now), I usually don't drink either one but, if I had to choose, it's Coca-Cola over Pepsi. 😌

That's right, I forgot - I have had some Coke or Pepsi (don't remember which) for a stomach ache. Carbonated drinks can help digestion.

when we had stomach aches we were usually to drink 7up or the likes because it was much easier on the stomach than the thicker colas

Pepsi all the way!
RockLee, by any chance did you get your name off naruto? Rock Lee is a random freak (looks wierd with two HUGE GINOURMOUS pupils for eyes,

Carbonated drinks DO help with digestion and stomach aches but never with the soft drinks on the market! If you need carbonated drinks to ease stomach ailments take Alka Seltzer or drink seltzer-water otherwise known as Club Soda. Anything else is not good for you especially with stomach ailments!

Sadly, neither Coke or Pepsi contains pepsin today. However, here is more "useless information" concerning Coke and Pepsi from the Book of Useless Knowledge:

Soda or Pop?

Carbonated water, with nothing else in it, can dissolve limestone, talc, and many other low-Mohs hardness minerals. Coincidentally, carbonated water is the main ingredient in soda pop.

The citrus soda 7-Up was created in 1929. "7" was selected because the opriginal containers were 7 ounces. "Up" indicated the direction of the bubbles.

Fanta Orange is the third largest selling soft drink in the world.

Coca-Cola was first served at Jacobs pharmacy in Atlanta in 1886 for only 5 cents a glass. The formula for Coca-Cola was created by pharmacist John Pemberton. Only two people in the world know the secret recipe for Coca-Cola.

Earl Dean developed the bottle design for Coca-Cola.

Coca-Cola was originally green.

A can of Diet Coke will float in water, while a can of regular cola sinks.

Coca-Cola owns the worlds second largest truck fleet.

Coke is used to clean up blood spills on highways.

Diet Coke was only invented in 1983.

Pepsi originally contained pepsin, thus the name.

The first western consumer product sold in the former Soviet Union was Pepsi Cola.

In 1989 Pepsi came out with a morning soft drink called Pepsi AM. It didn't last long on the market.

Pepsi is commonly used by wooden boat owners to clean mold from decks. You can spill it on for about thirty seconds, but it needs to be rinsed to ensure that it does not erode the decks completely.

arigatougozaimasu minnasan!

keep replying!

(by the way count me back in!)

I am not fond of colas in general and voted "neither." In fact, I do not drink any of the mass-market soft drinks. Once in a while I will drink IBC root beer or cream soda. I like some of the more full-bodied ginger drinks (probably what the British would call ginger beer). I also like good full-bodied birch beer. Generall, though, my drug^^^^^(ahem) drink of choice is my own good strong coffee.
