High school year in Tokyo

I plan to go for one year to a Highschool in Tokyo. Is there something i need to know except that i have to learn the language, what i am already doing, and learn the japanese "behavings"?
I really would like to live in a campus instead of living in a family.
I also would like to work there (part time, to have my own money)... is this generaly possible?
The only thing i'm scared of is a bigger earthquake... are the newer buldings built "earthquake save"?

Hello, and let me tell you that I am going to a normal high school in Japan for a year beginning in about 3 months!
It's very easy.

Go to your local Rotary club or AFS in your country and ask about the program.

This isn't an academic thing, it's more cultural,so, it doesn't matter whether you know Japanese or not at the time of arrival, so, you will probably get behind a year or so in school when you go back to your Switzerland.
And, are you kidding? Haha, you can't get a job, it's impossible for high school exchange.

And, you can't live in a dorm, since it is cultural, you need to stay in a family, that's just how the program works.

you really helped me alot
with the job i meant something like to help out someone and get a little bit money for it... when you meant exactly this then i'm sorry.
Is it really not important to know at least a little bit japanese? ☝ I mean when i can read Kanji it would help me alot (atm i can only read Harigana and a little bit Katakana), or will I learn it very fast since it's more cultural?

Well, a job isn't an option since you need a special permit to do so by the government and it isn't issued for high school exchange, besides, I don't think you will have any time since you will be in school most of your time in classes and then clubs or such.

You got it wrong. It isn't compulsory to know Japanese, I mean, that's one of the purposes of the exchange, to learn Japanese while in Japan. But i highly suggest you study at least the basics just so you wouldn't be in for a shock.

I already edited that I was gonna go for 3 year. It is only one, I messed up on that one. Sorry.
