The TV series Sapranos just came to regular TV here in Maine(too cheap to pay for HBO). I can see why people like it, I'm hooked on it after just 3 episodes. I wondered if Japanese TV has anything similer that follows a Yakuza family and their daily life.

Not that I know of, although there have been movies of the sort...so it's possible for a TV drama to have been done on that theme. I just don't watch TV too much at all. (and am doing my best to wean my sons off of it too)

Yakuza representations on J-tv always seem to be pretty over the top imo (even by Western standards). I can't freakin' stand anything with Riki Takeuchi in it *shudders*
