I start off in Tokyo, what is there to chaheck out in Japan? I am going to visit Akihabara so far, but what else is fun to check out? I'd love to see temples, shop for traditional and modern items, whatever. I love electronics-I'm pretty outgoing, so through out anything. I have two weeks in Japan. I guess Tokyo will take up about a week.

Do you have the full Japan JR Railpass? If so, how many days? It will be a waste of money having the Railpass unless you take the Shinkansens out of Tokyo. You may want to go to Atami, which is a nice seacoast town with spas. Since you have two weeks, you may want to consider going to Kyoto and, further south, Hiroshima.
From Tokyo - Nikko (go early and you can make it a day trip), Kamakura
Stay in Osaka or nearby and visit there, Nara, Himeji, Kyoto
Hiroshima is 4-5 hours from Tokyo, a good place to go
Since you have 2 weeks, perhaps spend two days traveliing to get to Nagasaki. It's a fantastic city
When are you going? If in the summer, go to Hokkaido .
I've been to Japan over a dozen times and have seen quite a bit of the country. My favorite city would probably be Nagasaki. It's got a completely different feel from the rest of Japan.

Ah! The JR pass is full and good for a week in May, but perhaps I can extend that. Thank you all very much. I will definitely add these places to where to go. But, where are Nara, Himeji, and Atami?
So if I go from Tokyo to Nikko/Kamakura, then to Nagoya, next kyoto, then Osaka, and finally down to Hiroshima, Fukoaka, and Nagasaki - then how long would it take to get to these areas or near these areas with the JR railway or other ways of transportation?
I'm sorry this is a bit clustered right now, I really need to even this out and perhaps spend a little more time to check things out in different places. Nara and Himeji are between Nagoya and Hiroshima. A short distance from Osaka. You wouldn't be able to hit all the places you mentioned. That's a lot of time on the train. There's not much to see in Nagoya. There's Nagoya Castle, but considering it has elevators and air conditioning, it's on my list of castles to skip. Not Nagoya's fault; it was burned down in WW2 and rebuilt. A better castle near Nagoya, and one that doesn't get many tourists (Japanese or Western) is Inuyama Castle . It's smaller than typical castles but preserved wonderfully. The only reason to stop in Nagoya for me would be to visit some Japanese colleagues, eat at the kaiten sushi place on the 8th or 9th floor of Nagoya Station, and perhaps grab some broiled eel.
Nikko is one day, Kamakura is one day. Trip to Osaka is half a day. Kyoto another day. Himeji a day. Head to Hiroshima for a day. Back to Tokyo (assuming you fly in/out of there) is another half day. Leaves you 1 day left.
