So I am trying to figure out what kind of gifts should I buy My gf's parents. The dad owns a barber shop of sorts and the mom works with the dad. I was thinking of getting the dad one of those old style barber shop photos to hang maybe in the shop or something, but I can't figure out where to buy one. As for the mom I am at a complete lost.

Any suggestions?

Ebay maybe. Check with antique shops or barber supply houses.

Hard job there, my man. . . as long as the photo you're finally choose fits the interior design, color scheme, and atmosphere of the shop he runs, that should be good--I'd think. Another thing is to go for something related to any hobbies or pleasure activities they may have.

Also, as for the mother, if you happen to go for some house decor--again, depending on their house set up and interior--Arizona has some nice native art work that you just can't really get anywhere else.

I wish you the best of luck in finding that right gift !! MM

I was thinking of the native art gift also for the mom. With you being the 3rd person to suggest it i think i'll do that. thanks guys.

still not sure where to buy the picture from. ganbarimasu....

Why not give them food? In my experience the Japanese love food, and they're very happy to try some foreign stuff. I am not very knowledgable on the US cuisine, but is there something regionally available that is interesting? Although the US beef ban has been lifted, I don't know if tourists are allowed to bring (dried) beef though.

I found one picture the 10c shave picture i may buy. The gf said it was a nice picture but i don't know if they will really like it. I was recently asked to bring them some teeth whitening stuff. hmmmm.... maybe i could play off of that. :p

Maybe, just as something to bring along. But I wouldn't count that as your introductory gift.

Have you found one of those pictures with dogs in a barbershop? You probably know the one I am talking about.

Yeah bought a frame and non glare glass for it.
Now just need to figure out what's good for the mom....

Food food food!! (You may have ignored my last post, but I won't give up!! 😊 ) Or why don't you buy them a nice bottle of American wine? I know you got some great wines from California..

Yes, those would be good to bring along with the barbershop print. I brought some over on my first trip to Japan.

Wine huh? I was just trying to make sure it would be something they would like they is specific to the US. I know alot of american foods can be bought in the us.

A sampling of California wines would be a good idea (provided the parents drink). You may consider a blush Zinfandel, Chablis or Chardonnay. For red wine, I would recommend a Merlot or a Zinfandel. They'd probably be more impressed if they were from Napa or Sonoma Valleys.*

*Definitely not Ripple!

You mean champipple....hahahaha
Well the mom drinks but the dad doesn't. He smokes and my gf told them I don't like smoking or gambling......the dad likes smoking and gambling.......I must seem quite boring.

Was thinking of buying the mom some Patron.....:p

Cigars, maybe? If it wasn't for problems with customs, I would have recommended a fruit assortment from Harry & David in Oregon. There's also See's Candies in Los Angeles. I generally give Toho execs 2# boxes of milk chocolates from See's at Christmas.
