I very much doubt you're Chinese,didn't you fictitiously began a thread title " Are Chinese more favourable toward Americans or Japanese " ?.
Most Japanese know Chinese people hate them.Chinese in general don't ever give a **** whether Japanese like them or not,obviously you wouldn't be aware of it because you are not Chinese rather faking as a Chinese.
All Japanese tour group from Canada except you're one and only Chinese .... what ???
My childhood American-born Chinese girlfriend not only never questioned it,she's married to a Japanese as matter of fact.
Most Japanese and the S Koreans bad mouth Chinese,that never stop Chinese from visiting these two East Asia nations.
2-4 million S Koreans and Japanese tour mainland China annually,despite uneasiness over politics.

If you are with a tour group and visiting Japan, where I am guessing you will be speaking English or French rather than Japanese and I don't think that you will have too many problems. Seriously you should be fine.
Japan isn't a 3rd world country or North Korea where people are suspicous of every foreigner.
Enjoy your trip and try to stay positive and not worry about being discriminated against. Might be that if you think that way, and if heaven forbid something happens that you don't understand or are unsure of you will automatically start thinking that YOU were discriminated against because you are Chinese. Do you follow what I am trying to say?
Enjoy the trip heck it's over a year from now right? Anything can happen between now and next year but worrying about something that really isn't a problem could give you ulcers you know. Thanks for asking though.

I don't think that people can say for sure that one country hates another.
It's true that the governments might not get along and have squabbles but actually..there are people that like the opposing countries.
It's just the people that seem to stick out more are the negitive groups. It's not as if you see Canada on the front of the newspaper for how much they love some country. It's the negitive things that get people's attention.
Most times, on the front of newspapers are things that are shocking and reflect negative images because that's what catches our attention. People say that we need to reflect more on things that are postive instead of things that are negitive, but alot of sales of tabloids and newspapers would go down. People don't want to hear about things that are going well, except for times that benefits them. They want tragedy.
So I don't really think that you can generalize that one country hates another, even though it may seem that way. There will always be people who are more then glad to have you in their country.
Sometimes people are so wrapped up in their country and their government that they'll do what ever others are doing.

I went to Japan and I wasn't discriminated against (although I'm not full Chinese...)
Personally I don't believe that anyone will discriminate against you just becuase you're chinese...in fact I doubt many people will notice unless you actually speak Chinese in front of them.

I 100% agree with Armand: If you are Canadian citizen then you are Canadian - period. But even if you went around with a t-shirt saying "I'm Chinese" I am certain that no one would care. Japanese usually try to aviod confrontation, so even if they thought that you were a odd one the might not tell you.ArmandV said:

Relax and enjoy your visit. The Japanese may be more curious about you than spiteful. Then again, you just might blend in. You'll only blow them away when you start speaking English. Unless you wear a t-shirt with the Canadian flag, they'd probably assume you are American.
You will not be discriminated against. If you were to rent an apartment, you could not be treated equally to Japanese.

Just relax Tokyo, the impression I got is while some Chinese burn Japanese flags at every mention of Yasukuni, the Japanese in General either think its immature and ignore it, or dont care and ignore it.
From what I've seen Japan has a fondness for China and Chinese culture, they like Chinese food to so just go and have fun and dont worry.

That's why I never understood where the insecurity came from as for me and nearly other Chinese don't ever ask this silly question,therefore led me to suspect it was some prankster.
