The left column in the second photo is 七段目 忠臣蔵 Chūshingura Act Seven, but it seems to me that those were written by someone who actually didn't know kanji, including the first one.

Could it be Chinese or just cheap tourist art? Inherited it from the sister of my grandmother who passed away in 1995. Always enjoyed them. Thanks

It's the latter. They are even not Chinese characters. Most of them are unidentifiable.

looks to me like a westerner copied a Japanese piece, and copied the text to the best of their ability, but didn't know how to write kanji so they just approximated. There's no reason not to enjoy it for its artistic and sentimental value, as your grandmother probably liked it and bought it form a local artist.
