i don't think it's S.K.I.N., just "SKIN"... and i don't think it stands for enything other than epidermis ^_^ why yoshiki chose that name, i don't know. it puts funny pictures into my head...

It makes me wonder though, if they are already going to be performing in a month at AX and then touring, what music will they perform? Is it just going to be covers like sakevi suggested or maybe are they already working on something? It's possible they could have something in the works, the whole meev's as guitarist rumor started in like december and we pretty much new it was him back then because he basically said it himself so maybe they've been working on music for months now in secret ne? lol

^yea i'm definately wondering that... will they even *get* a bassist in the future? i'm excited to see them perform and see what they do if i can go, but i kind of wish they would complete the band first and maybe give us more notice beforehand... and also WHY A CON?? they could easily attract a crowd on their own!! gr... i really hope they're doing more than covers, though, even if i'd like to hear gackt's voice on some of their older stuff (weird O_O but intriguing)

I'm okay with it now I guess. I do love his voice, don't get me wrong but honestly he is the one who doesn't really fit for me now that I think about it...
Who knows what and why they are doing it this way.
As for a bass player maybe they will introduce them at the anime Expo??

Can they even be fully complete without a bassist? I still think they should just talk kisaki out of retirement and get him lol. It seems like gackt is at least preparing for this band, he seems to be getting in the rock mood again lol he's grown his hair out long for the first time in like two years, and his newest song is rock, plus he looks all badass on the new cover. And yeah, his singing voice is generally pretty low, but he can sing as high as he wants lol just listen to songs like ares and illness illusion off of mars.

Did you guys know that before hide died yoshiki and the guys in X were going to try and make a comeback. They were even auditioning new potential lead singers and guess who was the main consideration? That's right, our good buddy gackt, even though at the moment (though not for much longer of course) he was with malice mizer they wanted him to be the new lead singer to take toshi's place. Of course gackt and yoshiki's were friends even back then. But yeah, hide died (=/) and the dream kind of went with him. Who knows if it even would've happened though, obviously gackt had going solo on his mind XD. I read that somewhere ages ago though I cant remember where lol. Imagine if it had really happened? How crazy would that've been, X may have still even been around today if that had happened. Though again I doubt that, ol' gackt probly would've gone solo at some point haha.

You read what he says about this MASAYA (nice play on words : masaya=messiah = jesus/lord/saviour/etc.) it's ridiculously obvious that it's a cult. Just go to his website and read the interview, cult cult cult! lol. At least he's happy now, but he alienated all his friends and family and all for this masaya person who he basically worships. It mentions something about you cant have your own ideals. Geeze that's nice you cant think for yourself or have your own opinions or thoughts, you must follow the way of masaya, cult much!?

Also I kinda sorta blame toshi for hide's death. Who knows if things hadn't happened the way they did maybe hide would still be alive. I dunno that's probly mostly me just wanting to blame someone other than hide for his own death =/

Yeah I heard about this cult too...I thought he left it?? Weirder things have happened I am sure that would make a lead singer leave his band and follow some nut case.
I also heard that this wasn't the reason. I forget the other reason...
I felt sorry for the rest of X when he left cause they were sorta stranded and like "Uh yeah now what?"
No doubt having Gackt for a lead singer would have been interesting.
I heard he left Malice Mizer cause him and Mana-sama would argue over musical direction. Now I am wondering if that will happen in the new band...Which I guarantee it will.
I think they all have their bossy, It's-all-about-what-I-Say streaks and that can't be too good...

Hey wait I don't blame Toshi but I have often wondered what if they didn't break up...would hide still be around?...Then there's that whole debate well if he was still around hide might not be as big as he is today and XYZ. Like I care, I would still want him alive today!

Guess what: I'm also a musician (a drummer) and I really can't stand the stupid screaming of fangirls... call me an old guy or whatever, but I prefer people to recognize my music rather than my look; all of you just scream to the guys on stage, not the music. It's not a damn fashion stage.
Heh, I'm always nice to people (not just usually) and LOVE confrontation... but annoying fangirls really bother me, specially when they don't argue anything logical. The day we agree on something, I'll shoot to my head, I prefer to be dead rather than being a rabid fanboy.

No doubt about that ^^ I mean, they used to be great friends even before Taiji joined X, when he was guitar player of Dementia they used to live in the same apartment. The music took them to opossite ways, surely it will bring them back together one day

One thing is selling your music putting 1,000 CD's in a music store, and another is selling condoms, plushies, wine, dolls or thongs with your face or band name on it... the big difference between musicians is that: I respect musicians for their music, not their marketing products.
So, if they like to show his body, make a model career!! and don't take the music as a facemask to make your broken dreams happen (Yoshiki dixit)

I personally don't care what they do as long as it doesn't interfere with their music.
C'mon, who is "real" these days?! The only way you can be that is if you stay away from the media light and that means that you are still playing in a tiny cave-like club in Hokkaido on your fathers old guitar and have to bring your own speaker from home. You won't find that guy/girl anywhere unless you are sitting in that club so ofcourse they want to make them selves seen/heard. And that involves releasing 675 CDs and 5656 DVDs with "never been seen" extra material and sell candy with your face on it.
Again, the music comes first, the candy second

@ Things said a few posts back... I don't mind helping because I like this thread~ I'm a very curious person and for me this new band is very, very mysterious and I want to find out more about.... so I don't want this place to turn into a war zone

As for the bassist thing I have a theory which goes something like this and is based on the following facts:

#1 The fact that (something me and my friend discussed at length....) the rumour that Kisaki would be the bassist HAS gotten stronger lately

#2 The fact that Phantasmagoria is being "sealed" and that they were talking about the disbandment even before Kisaki annonced that he would be retiring from the music scene.

#3 I also heard (and this was discussed here at some point....) that it seemed like they might not HAVE a bassit at all...

Anyway what I think is that yes Kisaki was going to be the bassist however for some reason he changed his mind/decided to retire from the music scene as a bassist therefore... I think right now they don't have or that they had one (Kisaki) but he changed his mind and therefore they don't have one right now...

I might be totally wrong but this seems plausible....

And while I love Gackt, I think he has amazing vocals... I can't see him as part of X Japan XD... I even have a hard time thinking of him in a band of any kind... and so I just can't see him in X Japan at alll....

Thought to be honest while a reunion HAS been mention... I don't think it will be for a while yet...

And now he is creating a new band. I know he went through all that depression after hide's death but hm..maybe it is better for him to start a new band. It would make hide happy ne?

and as a bassist...hmm I've never heard kisaki play before so I cant say if he's super good or not. doesnt gackt play bass? hes like a multi instrumental dude right? hm..but they seriously need to pick a bass and make it official, bass is my fav instrument and a band without an official bass would make me v_v

As I said, I don't want to fight here again... I posted the TRUE REASONS and why Toshi left the band in mmm, I don't remember if it was in Yoshiki's threat or X-Japan threat.

You're faaaar away from reality: he didn't join a cult, that's actually a stupid fangirl argument that came up years ago to blame somebody because a band era just ended. As I posted before, those annoying fangirls just see the world in one color, and they made that up (the cult sh*t) to justify (with disgusting lies) why their favorite band disbanded, not blaming their idol (Yoshiki) by making "his" band a big *****.

So, please... if you want to understand this with more arguments, check those threats I told you and check my posts there. Toshi joining a cult is one of the biggest lies about X-Japan.

And also, the original plan of bringing back X-Japan in 2000/2001 was moving hide to vocals, and hire a new guitar player... this was because hide was able to sing X songs in a weird way respecting the scale of the songs, and because Yoshiki used to create X songs based in Toshi's voice (we all know how he reached high scales)

Hiring a new vocal meant creating new songs and modify old songs... that's why their plan was to hire a new guitar player and not a vocal.

I'm only calling it like I see it, I had no idea that was the fangirl opinion and I could care less if it is, that's just the way it seems to me, and to me it seems overly obvious that it's a cult.

Besides, I'm not even a big fan of X, I only just found out about the whole thing a few months ago. So the whole fangirl one minded excuse as to why X disbanded has nothing to do with me and truthfully I could care less that they disbanded, I found out about the yoshiki gackt thing awhile back and looked into yoshiki and found out about X.

Later on I read in yoshiki's blog about the potential reunion so I found toshi's website to read about it and I read about this Masaya and to me it seemed to clearly be a cult.

and I think I should know, I had a friend who was in a cult once, it was ****** up, and this all sounds a little too familiar. He was practically brainwashed, his parents were able to get him out but the whole thing was messed up. It was a few years back when I was in high school, but I remember all too well. He pretty much worshiped some fool who thought he was God, he couldn't think for himself, he left his friends and family, the people who actually loved him, again it's all sounding a little familiar huh? It's obvious to me Toshi's in a cult.

Although hide replacing Toshi, I would not have minded that. I loved hide's voice and he is without a doubt my favorite Japanese singer/guitarist.

MYV_ANCafe_Lover I agree with you on the bass. Bass is my favorite as well and I think they need one.
I think it's enough Gackt is their singer...I really do like him but I really don't want him as singer/bass player although he is insanely talented. Maybe that's just me...

Well...

Maybe you don't know, but he was in X to go through an inferiority complex he had when he was young, he thought that being famous he would leave that on past... Yoshiki and hide always told him how to behave, dress and talk on stage, and as you can see, he was the first member who left behind the "agressive" image on the band. This happened because he was concerned about true problems in life, and as long as he was being more "mature", he realized that there were more important things than fame.

And then, he had an unauntenticity complex singing on X, and he wanted to go through that singing for Masaya... well, he found happiness, and how a happy person could show on stage to sing sad and painful songs?? he was honest and he said that he wasn't able to sing what he wasn't feeling at the moment... after all, if Yoshiki decided to be a public person (and people respect that) why can't we be glad to see that Toshi changed to be a happy and honest person??

If you want to know about Toshi's TRUE thoughts read his book called Aoi Hoshi no Tabibito, it could help you a little bit to understand why he left the band.

Toshi was dissapointed because X members blamed him of the disband (well, he disbanded X, hahaha) and not taking into consideration what he was feeling too... why?? because Toshi wasn't comfortable singing in X anymore, he expressed that, but the attitude in the band was like "hmmm if you say so..."

And the Last Live wasn't going to be done, Yoshiki (sorry, X...) forced Toshi to make it, they addopted a childish attitude of "we are considering to make a last concert, but we don't know what Toshi is thinking..." making him feel so bad that he had to accept to sing in that Last Live.

and i doubt they'll make gackt play bass... maybe they got someone to record the bass lines and they'll play them in? i kind of hope they don't do X covers though... because toShi's [typo] style is like the anti-gackt style... new stuff! *crosses fingers*
