Since this pertains to a dinner cruise on Tokyo Bay, I figured this is the best place to post this. I am considering taking a dinner cruise on a Yakatabune boat. Anyone ever do this? Do you have any Yakatabune companies to recommend? I know they are around $100 for dinner and cruise per person.

Just general idea:

Most operators concentrate on charter boats for groups of tens unfortunately.
Although a few might offer individual-basis tours off-season, they usually turn out noisy karaoke parties on the water.

It would be uncomfortable to say the least, or torturous to be more accurate, to be confined in a boat with drunk tone deaf strangers in full volume.

It would be very important to research the nature of the tour/operator before making any reservation.

Thanks. I found one that offers individual bookings. I don't mind if they have karaoke on board. I've a good enough sense of humor where I would find it a good laugh. The average cruise is about 90 min. to 2.5 hours. I think I can tolerate the "torturous" ride for that long. I figure it'll be an interesting experience, to say the least.

It would become an interesting sociology study then.
Speaking of traditional dining experience in historical entertainment districts along Sumida river, one of ryotei restaurants in Mukojima or Yanagibashi might be a good choice too.

Looks interesting. I was thinking also about one of those kabuki dinner shows. Thanks for the suggestion/ideas. While I am generally open to just about anything, my dinner-date may not go for it (she's a Japanese local). For all I know, she just may prefer room service.
