Just the other day some, well, I'll just say nut for now, came on line in the late afternoon (Japan time) and posted all kinds anti-Japanese sentiment posts. (some 39 or so was it?) It seems the same or a connecting person had come on line today again (Japanese time) but I wasn't here this time--our comrade leonmarino san worked to knock all those posts out of the title positions.

I may be just me, I don't know, but when some nut like that comes on line, I think it would really be nice if for that moment (and I would not be asking for anything else) we could all work together and try to knock such posts out of sight. I mean, make posts so that the anti-Japanese ones would be covered up until a Moderator or Administrator could get in and delete them--that way no visitors would have much of a chance to get a wrong impression, AND that nut poster might get the sense that such ill intentions will never work here...and maybe give up? ( well, that may be wishful thinking, but...)

We don't all agree on a number of things, sure...we're all human anyway. We are all different--some stronger in certain areas and meanings, and some weaker--but we are all members of this community for now. I think many of you know that I had expressed supportiveness for a more 'democratic-like attitude' in the past, and this is simply a part of that concept--to work together to keep what is clearly bad out.

For the Jref on-line community, I hope it would not be considered too presumptious of me to post this, and hope for others to join in, in trying to combat those who would like to cast dark and ill shadows over Jref. I would encourage the effort to cover over such bad posts by posting below them in order to knock them out of view.

I agree what a great idea Mars Man i myself have had the displeasure of incountring this ill willed persons posts.

They deeply desterbed me to the point they made me shake with anger and shock as i never expected to encounter such a thing here

I'm afraid i'm a very sensative person who can not tolirate any race hate in any form and some of those pictures upset me for sevaral days

I'm in on helping

It is a shame that some people are unable to keep there malicious opinions to themselves

It is also a shame that these people are impossible to sway in opinion

Maybe if we work together we can get him to give up

After all if he is unable to get a rise out of those he wishes to rile he may think there is no point (like yourself this is prob wishful thinking)

But at least we can show this person that we will not take it lying down

Well, I just happened to be online and did what I could.. I'm glad Dutch Baka was in time to ban the guy and delete his posts..

I was wondering if users can be banned based on their IP-address, or if links to certain websites can be blocked.

But anyway, yes, I think it is a good idea to act collectively to such offending posts and imagery!!

Unfortunately these nutters seem to come and go. We can go for several weeks or even a couple of months without them, but suddenly they come around like buses. Thanks to those who try to keep them from the top spot.
Banning IP addresses doesn't work. They always come in on another one. As for banning certain web links I am not sure on that.

Mycernius....can you ban MAC address?

You might just block the entire ISP that this person is comming from.

Hey whats a MAC address i'm useless with computers ?

...if links to certain websites can be blocked.

I asked this in the Staff section, and hope that I got some news on that A.S.A.P.

because blocking the antijapan. website would really help a lot!

Hey whats a MAC address i'm useless with computers ?
A mac address is a binary unique identifier for a specific piece of hardware on a network.

Your network card has a unique mac address, though exactly how unique it must actually be is another thing entirely... It's also possible to change this mac address at the hardware level.

wooo i thought it was a make of computer

I know nothing about computers there so complicated i prefer books

Thanks for telling me

When he's using a proxy it doesn't matter. I was thinking more of a forum hack so that when he posted material from known sites he got auto-banned That would save us a lot of trouble!

I never thought of doing that before - if I spot anything like that while I'm online I'll be sure and try and knock 'em off the top spot! :box:

Thanks Kinsao, miki78, leonmarino, for your direct expression of the willingness to work together in that manner, and to you Mycernius, Dutch Baka, and RockLee, for your willingness to rush to the rescue, in such cases. And thanks to you Rudel, yukio_michael, for your concern. Working together in such a way is one sign of a healthy community, I reason. MM

Why am i struggling runing round like the clappers to knock that person off when he posts when everybody posts in his thread and brings it back up

I'm confused what plan of action are we doing if any

I'm runing round like a silly cow trying to help am i still sposed ta

Don't get frustrated easily. There are a lot of members who unwittingly post without realizing what you intended to do. (I do that a lot--my apologies for my past sins of posting without reading threads )

And, there are people who do, and those who realize later actually appreciate your good intentions!

^_^ thankyou^_^

I really wanna help get rid of that guy and his dispicable threads

Well at least aparently he can't post pics or urls anymore unless he maneges to be on here long enough to bost his posts

Lets hope he does'nt ^_^

I think that particular user wouldn't have the dignity to stick around long enough to attain the user status required to post links and photos. He is probably still content with condensing all of the same recycled crap into one cut-and-paste article and splattering it over the boards. I was wondering if there was a way to auto-ban users who made the same post more than 3 times in a row, or something along those lines.

I think there are some serious topics that need discussion. I am unclear about certain rules and parameters.

The interpretation is there, and is allowable:

We should be working on improvment rather than trying to argue for any 'status quo' or 'my country, love it or leave it--right or wrong.'

Is there anything that needs to be studied and bettered?
