working in Tokyo

Hi. I am a computer professional in India and my company wants to depute me at Tokyo for about 6-7 months. Few questions that I am stuck with:

1. I have a kid - about 3 years old. I want to take him and my mother along with me. Is this possible? Any VISA issues?

2. I hear that accomodation is very expensive in Tokyo. What are the options that I should look out for? Are economical rates for accomodation possible in Tokyo suburbs? I am looking out for 1BR...apartment.

3. What basic Japanese language course I should take?

Please help me on these......

1. If you have a valid working Visa they can be given a "Dependants Visa". You'll have to organize it before you go to Japan.
