Working Holiday Visa?

Just wondering, my friend is planning to get a working holiday visa in Japan. I;m wondering if that's possible without finding a job first hand in Japan? Her plans was to get the visa first then started looking for a job in Japan.

Is this different than a working visa in general??

Yes, she can do that with a working holiday visa. See the requirements here:
Working Holiday Visa Requirements for Canadian Citizens

As the name denotes, the visa grants you a "holiday" in Japan, accompanied by work. She can come and then find work. The drawback for this visa is that you can get the visa only once in your life.

For a full work visa, you need to seek employment by a Japanese company for a job in Japan first, before getting the visa. Work visa issuance is based on employer sponsorship and can be issued as many times as necessary, so long as the person qualifies for it.

^thanks. Also for a full work visa, do you need to have a BA degree to get it or it is fine as long you have a sponsorship from your employer?

Work visas come with requirements. Usually, they require a minimum of a college degree (not associate's). If someone doesn't have that, they are allowed to substitute years of experience combined with any schooling/training they may have had. How much depends on the type of work visa. What kind of job are we talking here?

teaching work visa - 3 years experience
most others - 5 or 10 years experience

Sponsorship alone is not enough.

Don't count on any work visa with that background. Have you tried traineeships or internships?

Job sounds pretty generic, too. How's your Japanese speaking/reading/writing ability?
