Friends of mine are going to Japan for two weeks, and asked me if I would like them to buy me something from there. Since I was never in Japan, I don't know what to ask them, and I thought you could maybe help me...
The object should not be too large or heavy (they must be able to send it by post or bring it back with them on a plane). Also, I would like something that I can't find here in Europe or easily order via internet. So no manga, books, food, movies, electronic gadgets, etc.
I enjoy very much zen inspired style (simplicity, pragmatism and elegance), so I would appreciate an object that embodies those qualities.
Any suggestions?
(examples that I think could work would be an elegant statue, tissue, painting, a tea service or a tool. As long as it's typical of japanese style and not easily found in Europe, I'm interested!)
