What Next?

I decided that I wanted to learn japanese by myself a couple of weeks ago.
Someone told me to learn Hiragana first, so I did.
Now after a few days of practising, I know the entire Hiragana alphabet to memory.
So since I have no one helping me learn the language, I need to know what to do next?

Do I move straight onto Katakana?
Or do I stick with Hiragana for a bit longer and learn some words/phrases?

Ideally you should on to katakana, however you should be learning some words and basic sentence structures along with it, I'll post a few sites for you, but there are plenty more, just google.

Real Kana

That last one is real good for practicing Kana, but to really know it learn the stroke order and practice writing them a lot. However in my opinion if your really serious about studying Japanese then get a tutor or join a class.
