Well I beat you all - someone proposed to marry me just this morning over the Internet.

... the only slight problem being that I don't know (his / her) name, sex OR age. :p

lol? what the hell!? have you been reading you junk mail PaulTB :D
No this was on 2ch, suddenly a 名無しさん posted "Marry me Paul!".

Maybe I should have taken her/him up on it - could be the best offer I get all year :p

Err... a dumb question from my but is 好き= すき?
I mean not for the spelling but for the signification

dai suki desu is more of a "i really like you a lot. ^_^" not a SERIOUS "I love you," but it can be used as a more mellow form of "I love you". In summary it means the person really likes you a lot and probably has a SUPER CRUSH on you.

One more thing incase you were interested

Aishiteru is a more serious way of saying, "I love you."

Paul TB, Does "2ch" mean "2ちゃんねる"?
Yup.
By the way 1,110,000 Google results for 2ch from Japanese sites - I think it might be better to say "2ちゃんねる" means "2ch" :D

By the way by the way, I've just tried
Bing
and it sucks so hard it almost caused my computer to plunge into a microsoft generated black hole.

Paul, can you or someone explain what you're talking about? I have no idea what 2ch is or what a 名無しさん is...

Duhhhhhhhhh

2ch = two channel = A huge, (in)famous collection of Japanese forums (text based, very quick turn-over, not very sophisticated).

名無しさん = Mr (or Miss / Mrs) Anon.
Nearly all posts in 2ch are made by 名無しさん ;)

Considering your Japanese ability, there is no wonder you visit 2ch.
Is 2ch interesting for you?

By the wayテ?, what boards do you often visit in 2ch?
English board?

By the wayテ?, さっきどっかのスレッドに貼っていた、Idiots-in-Japanドットコムは、
2ちゃんぽい感じがしました。使われている単語が難しすぎてあんまり読めなかったけど。

イデオット・イン・ジャパン You've posted in another thread looks like 2ch.

It's very rarely boring 😌

Yup. It's busy enough that I don't really have to look anywhere else.

I usually hang around the 日本語→英語 and 中高の英語の宿題 threads although I post elsewhere as well.

Yes, the difference is that 2ch is 自然 whereas Idiots-in-Japan is わざと

If you know what I mean.

Ok - I checked it out - and yes, I feel overwhelmingly stupid. That's ok though - I'll be able to read all that (most of that) in a few years.

i'm afraid i disagree with that. daisuki can mean i love you, depending on context.

Paul, you post on 2ch? I'm not worthy! -_- Can you teach me the weird ways of 2ch sometime?

First 2ch tip.

If you post good information some people will hate and insult you.
If you make a mistake some people will hate and insult you.
Probably the same people but it's hard to tell because 97% of them are 名無しさん 😅

Second 2ch tip.

Decide early on whether you want to be 名無しさん or not. There are advantages and disadvantages to both ways. If you do use a username then add a トリップ (trip) which you do by typing #somestuff after your name. (Remember what 'somestuff' is because you might lose it later).

コテハンs (people with fixed names) generally have a reputation - and this naturally makes them bigger targets for the general 2ch crap. On the other hand if you don't have a fixed name you'll have trouble persuading people you know what you're talking about with regards to the English language. (Well, you will anyway with some people - see tip one). Posting under 名無しさん means never having to say you're sorry because they won't (generally) know it's you when you post again.

Gawd...I'm so confused....what's the board for anyways???
Which board?

If you mean 2ch it's for every possible subject under the sun - although a certain leaning to the illegal and immoral ones.
