What does 'kimi mo koishigatteiru' mean?

Hi I'm new to the forum, i've just started japanese lessons. I would like to know what the following sentence is, as a friend sent it to me in a text.. 'Kimi mo koishigatteiru'
Now I know it's something about longing or missing....but wouldn't that be koishii? the 'gatteiru' confuses me a little...

The -garu basically makes it so that someone else can talk about you (or you can talk about someone else). If it were koishii that could only mean "I'm longing," but koishigaru can mean "you're longing." -Garu has a meaning that someone is showing signs of something, and that's why you can comment on their emotional state. Otherwise, in Japanese, you can't directly state how someone else is feeling. You can also use conjectural words like koishii darou or koishii mitai da.

[Edit] Oh yeah, arigatou (gozaimasu) can only be used for thanking someone for something they've done. "Thanks in advance" would be (douzo yoroshiku) onegai shimasu.

恋しがる (Koishigaru) is a verb meaning "to yearn for" or "to miss."

If your friend sent it, I assume he is talking about you.

I read it as "you also miss (someone)," and just assumed the someone was the speaker. I.e., "you miss me too."
