What age do you have to be to rent a Leopalace21 apartment in Japan?

I would assume that the age is 18 however there are minors that stay in them when they do a year of high school abroad - right? I have sent an email to LeoPalace but I am curious as to whether anyone here knows the laws surrounding this. I plan on staying on Fukuoka to study Japanese next Summer for 4 weeks and want to know if it would be possible to rent a LeoPalace apartment would be possible or if my only choice is to home stay with a host family. (I will still be only 17, 1 month before my 18th birthday)

LeoPalace may have rules concerning this, but I doubt there is any law directly restricting the age at which one can rent an apartment. I imagine it would be surrounding laws that would affect this, such as negligence on the part of parents for leaving a minor alone and stuff like that.

I know its not a clear answer, but I say it anyway, because I think you won't get a clear answer, simply because I think there is no such law.

I think that want LeoPalace is going to be most concerned about is getting their money. So you may need to provide a guarantor or two that they trust for being employed legal adults.

I would be doing a 'Summer Program' at NILS language school in Ogori, Fukuoka to test the waters for a future there.
