Do you have any kind of Spyware Remover or Anti-Virus programs?
I recommend using Lava's Ad-aware for the spyware remover, and Norton Anti-Virus.
Also, how familiar are you with your registry? To remove it manually can be titious to a user that is not comfortable editing their registry. If you make a mistake in you could cause programs not to function anymore, or hardware.
Here is some information:
Symantec Security Center
If I were you, open up MSConfig.exe and go to startup tab and uncheck any unusual EXE files that may be trying to start when you boot up.
Delete ALL files that have the following extentions in your temporary internet folder.
