Just wondering, couldn't your wife go to the US with you on a 3-moth temporary visitor visa, then change it to a spouse visa there ? That's possible in Japan.

No she couldn't because tourists from Japan to the US travel under VWPP(Visa Waiver Pilot Program), which allows nationals from designated countries, to visit the US for business or pleasure for up to 90 days without a visitor visa.
She may not apply to change her nonimmigrant status if she enters the country with VWPP.

I was thinking the same thing Maciamo. We decided to do the Marriage Visa so she can get her foot into the States, and then apply for the full immigrant visa.

Yes, that's what I mean. It is possible to enter Japan with a VWPP (like all Westerners who do not have another visa), and change it to any other kind of (long-term) visa.

I cant believe how long it takes some visas to get processed even though people are married, and have an abundance of proof to make it legal!
Congratulations, you have obviously waited long enough!

Well We did Part I in July, and Part II this month on the 12th. If my wife could have scheduled things closer, she could of had her marriage visa in at least a month.

But she had to do a medical exam, that took longer than expected. daijoubu!!
