Hi all,
Nova sent my visa application to Japan at the end of last year. I'm supposed to go to Japan in March. I know I wont find out my location until 2 weeks before I leave but does anyone know how long it usually takes for them to contact you about when the exact departure date will be?

thanks

I don't know....

Another ant for the masses...

He He, post anything to reach that 20th post.

😊

PS - Be patient slug, by the weekend, someone should help you with the info.

Are you going to a school?

If so, you won't find out until around the end of February/beginning of March.

They are famously late on such things.

It costs nothing at the time of application, and only a few thousand yen for the revenue stamp at the time of issuance (if I recall it correctly).

You will probably find out your departure date a month before you have to leave. That gives you about 2 weeks to find a discounted ticket.

Megumi,
Shame on you for hijacking this thread! Why didn't you start one of your own? Spouse visa stamp will cost 4000 yen. If you want to leave the country at any time, you will also need to buy a reentry permit, which you can get same day. Single reentry permit costs 4000 yen; multiple reentry permit costs 6000 yen. Both are good until the end of your visa.

Slug, I am in the same position. I just sent out my visa app this week and my target departure is the end of March. I am also working for Nova. I am so anxious to get my damn ticket! Sorry if I couldn't answer your question, btw!

Hi All,
I got my departure date and it is for early March from SF. I'm very excited. Avocado region are you going to be stationed in? I'm going to be in the Osaka/Kansai area. Thank you all for your help.

I received my nova 2 days before I left for japan. Ive heard the same thing from a lot of other NOVAs too. so, I guess they like to cut it pretty close.

I don't know where I'm going to be stationed. My top choices are Tokyo and Kyoto , but from what I've heard it's really tough to get Kyoto. I have no idea! I just hope my commute isn't going to be too far away.
