Using sentences to qualify nouns

I have to write a couple of questions using sentences to qualify nouns and a couple of them are rather troublesome for me.

The first one is" I want an apartment where you can own pets" however the only thing i can come up with is:

ペット を 飼える アパートがほしいです

Im sure there is something wrong with it as I dont know how to say "where" if it is not directly asking where a place is. Can one use どこ で in that sentence? I thought about using it at the beginning but it sounded weird and i didnt know

The second one is "I want an apartment where rooms are spacious" Again, the same issue with "where" as well as with short forms and particles. The sentence i come up with is:

部屋が広いアパートがほしいです

1) Is it correctly used the particle が? Normally the person performing the activity in the sentence that works as a qualifyer is accompanied by it, but in this case its an adjective inside another adjective.

2) As i need to use short forms, the words 広い and アパート are next to each other and it not only looks weird but also seems incorrect.

Keep in mind i want to write it as closely as posible to the english version, therefore i want to avoid sentences like 広い部屋 があるアパートがほしいです (dont know if this one is correct either)

EDIT: there is a third sentence i forgot about : "i want to live in a city where there are many shops" that i translated as:

- 店 が たくさん ある街に住みたい

This one felt more natural and i didnt use a word for "where" so im starting to think there may be other issues with the previous sentences.

You don't need to translate the "where". In that usage in English, "where" isn't used as a question word; it is a relative pronoun. The function of the relative pronoun is to introduce the beginning of a relative clause and to indicate what kind of information it contains. In Japanese the clause appears before the noun and needs no introduction. The type of info is obvious from context and also needs no special marker.

All your attempts were fine. If you find the construction feels strange, that will go away with time.

I think the awkwardness of the first two sentences is from アパートがほしいです. This expression sounds like you want to own an apartment building. I would use アパートに住みたいです as same as the last one, or アパートを探しています instead of ほしいです.
You can also use ペットが飼えるアパート for #1, and 広い部屋のアパート for #2.

I didnt think about what ほしい would imply before writing it, I suppose it does look weird. Your other suggestions, specially 広い部屋のアパート were really useful, they sound way better to me. However, if I used that last one, wouldnt it stop being a sentence modifying a noun to be just a long regular noun?

Yes, your understanding is correct. 広い部屋の is not a modifying clause(連体修飾節), but a modifying phrase(連体修飾句). 部屋が広いアパート/部屋の広いアパート is grammatically correct, but actually, it's rarely used.

Wow, never thought you would go through this just because of my question, i really aprecciate your effort and really love this site.

One last question: As you guessed, correctly by the way, the book im currently using is Genki. Most of the reviews i found were good and tho i really like it (becase its the first one) I want to know your opinion on the book and if I should be aware of any flaw it may have. I do have other books but I would really like to finish this one and then start another book with a better base

I can't judge the book since I've never used any textbook written in English. Genki is popular also in this forum. I think there is no problem to compose those kind of sentence for practice (and it's better to know whether it's really used, too).
