We hear this a lot. But how would you define what it means to get used for sex?

How can a person know they were used for sex?

Surely it is more females than males complaining that they were used for sex. How do they know?

I am going to tear this one apart too. People assume that everyone is on the same page, thinking the same thing, and its stupid.

Public service announcement:

This is NOT the chit-chat section!

Anyway, get used to the sex talk, because the ignorance about the subject annoys me.

Why are people ignorant? Because they don't TALK about it, or want to AVOID the discussion. People think they know it all by magic or that its a simple, easy subject with simple, easy answers. No to both.

Three topics in a row probably makes people lean towards 'pervert' rather than 'consideration.'

Well that was helpful. I am sure you feel the same about Dr. Ruth. I would say your post makes people lean toward "A-hole" rather than "wise man".

And no, it was not three in a row. You missed something.

If you don't want to participate in this thread or you don't have anything to contribute, please feel free not to visit.

Thank you.

Only people with unhappy sex lives label others 'pervert'. Sex is fun, and there is no such thing as a pervert.

I think this should go in the language section. Used by, Used for, Used to. It's very complicated

In this case, I think the term should be matched to say, using an implement for some purpose.

"I used the spade to dig this hole"

"I used thebandit for sex"

I think that's OK....I don't mind being used.

Yes, I certainly hear you on the semantics. I mentioned it in another thread and it lead to this one. In the other thread I was pondering what people mean when they say they "wish they had waited" to lose their virginity. Wait for what? A better person? What if a better person had come sooner? Would they still want to wait?

Yes indeed, its complicated.

As someone who definitely has felt used, its definitely not pretty. But in keeping with my contentions, its very hard to know that I was used, or why. What I really know for sure is that she lied to me about seeing others and she lied about being a virgin. And I was inexperienced enough to believe these things and not guard my heart. I figured she must really like me to give me her virginity. Boy was I a dope. When we had sex, I had my doubts, as she was not exactly tight. But at the time, there was no reason to think she did not previously use a toy or fingers.

She dumped me soon after. And I found she had been seeing another guy before me and apparently went back to him (or tried. Commitment was definitely not his thing).

So did I blow it, or did she use me for sex? I have no idea.

But the thing is, few people are even going to admit that there is a chance they simply blew it. To guard their ego they easily say the other person used them. But we don't know the truth unless the other person admits to using them in circumstances conductive to the truth (remember they may lie to protect the ego of the other person! They may be nice enough to take the blame rather than announce they cannot date anyone with breath that bad or tits that ugly).

This and many other things that people take for granted about dating and sex are in fact, never-ending mysteries.

Maybe the women that are constantly being stared at like a piece of meat would disagree? I have had a few women think that they could treat me like an object as well. I treat every woman as a human, not a feather in my cap. But I suppose a pervert wouldn't understand the difference.

My original post was on topic. If she didn't call you back, she treated you like an object. Objects are used. That's basic Japanese right?

Anyone that would say "look at that," or "she's just my type," are viewing women as objects.

Maybe the women that are constantly being stared at like a piece of meat would disagree?

Or maybe they would secretly enjoy it, but make a fuss to ward off judgment from people like you?

And staring would not make a pervert either. What it would make is a rude person if it was obvious the staring was not wanted. Pretty much every red blooded male wants to stare. Its manners and empathy why they don't, when they don't.

I have had a few women think that they could treat me like an object as well. I treat every woman as a human, not a feather in my cap. But I suppose a pervert wouldn't understand the difference.

Right. You treat every woman as a human, whatever the hell that is supposed to mean. Like you never fixated on her boobs or butt, not even for one second. As you if you get a woody from warm gooey feelings or some crap. Give us a break. At some point most of us guys treat a woman as a sex object. Either that or sex does not happen. What would fairly get someone the label of pervert is the inability to switch between treating a woman as a sex object and treating her with respect.

And I dare say that someone who swears they never treated a woman as a sex object is a pervert for that same inability to switch, or heck, even claiming they never did! Or claiming they never looked at or enjoyed porn, which is treating people as sex objects even if consensually and only temporarily.

You don't fool me BrianLewis.

It would have been on topic if it had been in the form a statement instead of question. Or if you had providing supporting statements.

Your post was tongue in cheek and directed at me and was not meant to be helpful.

Again, you are not fooling me. Your dishonesty is disgusting. And its a big problem I tend to have with people of faith. So many of you have massive problems with honesty cause you think God will forgive all your little lies and this mortal world does not really matter for the afterlife.

Anyone that would say "look at that," or "she's just my type," are viewing women as objects.

Temporarily yeah, and there is nothing wrong with that unless its all one can do.

But sex negative moral blowhards like yourself try to delude yourselves and us that its just bad, bad, bad and that is all there is.

Its not automatically bad. Its a part of life that is only a problem if one is fixated or overboard. You just have no sense of balance for varying aspects of life, and no mental capacity to entertain it all at the same time and view the big picture. Its not our fault.

Frankly I think you are on the TV evangelist path to a secret life of fornication of the worst kind for all your denial.

There is nothing wrong with sex, and by no means does being physically attracted to someone mean you consider them an object. It's men that view any woman as nothing more than an object that is using them, and being a pervert. Women are also fully capable of such things as well.

Its pretty easy to figure out that someone is using you for sex. If they call you late at night and what to, "hang out", its a good indication. In the states we call it a, "booty call" (having people in your life that you use when you just want to get laid but dont really care about them).
Bottom line, if they want sex but dont really care about having a real relationship with you; chance are you are being used.

Something something.

Its YOU GG! I thought you dropped off the face of the Earth! You are wanted in the age difference thread to explain your link!

Its pretty easy to figure out that someone is using you for sex.

In the specific case you mentioned, it probably is the case. But that hardly explains all cases of someone making the claim that the got used, because not all case involve random booty calls that we figured were just booty calls because they happened so many times without such much as a bouquet of flowers.

But if someone calls you for a booty call, and you keep saying yes, it sounds like a mutual agreement to me. And I hesitate to define a mutual agreement as "getting used".

The relationship with my girlfriend sure looks like a bunch of booty calls. I buy her gifts sometimes, and we exchange email sometimes. But we meet about twice a month at a hotel or her place, and very rarely go to a restaurant. She is open to all the dating she can get, but wants nothing permanent and neither do I. Are we using each other?

Bottom line, if they want sex but dont really care about having a real relationship with you; chance are you are being used.

Well now we get to define what a "real relationship" is, and how we know for sure another person does not want one.

I agree that if you allow yourself to be a booty call, that is a choice that you make but it doesnt mean you arent being used. It just means you are allowing yourself to be used.
As for the relationship part, thats an instance where you need to have the talk and clearly define what each person wants. If the other person makes it clear that they just want the physical and not the emotional, well then you need to make a choice whether or not you are OK with that. If you want a relationship that involves emotion, feelings, love and eventually maybe marriage and a family; clearly you need to cut your losses and move on, because that person will likely never give you what you want.
I feel like far too often people try to make the other person into what they think they want and to me thats just never a good idea.
About the other thread, Im going to bow out of that one. We've both made our opinions clear and I really see no reason to continue the discussion. Im more than willing to have an intelligent, rational, grown up conversation but Im not going to continue a discussion when someone tries to insult me and others just because we disagree with them.

I agree that if you allow yourself to be a booty call, that is a choice that you make but it doesnt mean you arent being used. It just means you are allowing yourself to be used.

Seems somewhat contradictory to say that allowing yourself to be used is not being used. Sure there is a difference, but there is still potential there for feeling abused later, if and when someone changes their mind and begins to look back on the situation with regret and bitterness.

Your sentence also seems rather pessimistic. My GF and I are NOT using eachother. We have a mutual understanding and similar/compatible wants, desires and needs.

because that person will likely never give you what you want.

Agreed up to that point. I have changed my mind about women before. I think plenty of women have taken their chances with a man who says they don't want a deep relationship, but only sex, and wound up getting married with him. Its just that no one ever says their relationship began with just casual sex. They cover that up. The only time you ever hear about it is when someone is complaining that so and so is a jerk who only wanted sex so there was a break-up.

I think it would be called confirmation bias? This topic is RIFE with it. People don't talk about certain aspects except in negative situations. Therefore, it looks like situation is always a negative.

An excellent example is that women tend to not talk about their sex lives with us men at all. And generally if we do hear about it, its because of bad experiences, whether it was getting used, groped, raped, or if some guy was too rough or something like that. We don't hear about how so and so was great in the sack, or what position she likes, or if she came last night half as much. Result: It appears, especially to us guys, that women don't like sex or don't like it very much.

Example: I was once on a packed train that just kept getting more packed. There was a woman with her back to me. When people got on, she backed up and so did I, but soon I had nowhere to go and it got so packed I could not even turn around. The woman had her butt (and it was a nice butt) shoved right in my groin. I tell people about this experience and I admit I liked it. But do you think she does? Do you think there is a chance at all that she liked it? I don't see why not. But I doubt she will ever tell.

And if she does? It will most certainly be a complaint. And while she might mean it, another woman in the same situation would enjoy, and never talk about it.

Im more than willing to have an intelligent, rational, grown up conversation but Im not going to continue a discussion when someone tries to insult me and others just because we disagree with them.

Bullocks. I did not insult you, I asked you for proof of your contentions. You are just embarrassed because the only link you offered proved mine. And now you don't want to admit it.

The only one insulting you is yourself. I know I can be gruff, rude and direct. But I was not any of those things to you in that thread except to ask for proof rather than a random opinion. I don't believe you are that thin-skinned. I think you are ashamed as if it would kill you to admit your error.

erm you seem a little unsure of yourself -

Why are you asking the Internet to validate your relationship?

is it possible to be used for sex - it's actually highly unlikely - unless you are being massively manipulated - and that's going to require someone with psychopathic tendencies -

more likely is you are using sex. - for the exact why? well you know that. We don't.

People often like to blame others - for their own actions - because perhaps the questions they would otherwise ask are too difficult.

You already know the questions - but shall i ask you anyway?
Why do you only see this girl twice a month?
Would you like to see her more?
Would you like it if she came over to your house and stayed the whole weekend?
are you enough for her?
do you / can you make her happy?
are you more than gifts and physical validation?
Does she cum? and if so is it hard?

hmmmm because if you have serious - primal sex connection - 2 times a month is not going to cut it.

So why are you with her?
why is she with you?

why do you spend so little time together?

Do you want more - and does she?

erm you seem a little unsure of yourself -

I have no idea why or how you get that impression and ask me that question.

I am not the least unsure of myself and I do not need or want anyone's validation.

All I have done is presented my own case as an example.

It might aid you to know that I am married, and my marriage is in no way a two person orgy. So I have a GF. But that is me. My GF has indicated that she would not want much more than this even if I were single. And that would be with others too. You should see how much money she throws down the drain to have her own apartment and pay bills just to be alone. Her parents live only a few kilometers away and they have space for her. She values her privacy and alone time.

as long as your wife is ok with it - then do what you gotta do.

if not then it's silly.

and perhaps you should focus on making sure you are happy in yourself - with your wife.

otherwise whats the point.

sure you can have cake and eat it....as long as you do it right

Mind your own business. And stick to the topic.

I mentioned my personal life to provide examples, not as a springboard for your unwanted advice, opinion on how I run my life, or a chance to change the topic.

The topic is "used for sex" and nothing else.

you call your mistress - your bit on the side - your GF??!!??

red flag - red flag.

what the fooo are you doing mate?

why is your wife your wife?

I made my points on "used for sex"

you bring your personal situation into a topic you started - it becomes the topic.

Ditch your itch.

lol you buy her presents - side-cake-fail

you mention ure "GF" in a topic about using people for sex.

that is the only thing you are using her for.

if you use her for anything more - you are failing.

I got more XP on this than you

take it from an old boy.

what would your wife say?

No it doesn't. We are all speaking from personal experience.

And you have been warned about the topic.
