US Navy Guy headed to Japan....

Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm in the Navy about to be stationed in Japan and I'm interested in learning more about the issues and views of the Japanese people regarding US military stationed there. I'm more than happy to answer your questions and share my views, but please keep in mind I am usually speaking on behalf of myself (I'm required to make that clear).

Anyway, I will spend a lot of my time lurking in the political sections, but I'd like to hear from anyone living in Japan.

Well, I am living here in Japan...that does not, uh, actually make me a Japanese national, however, regardless of how closely so it may do just that...and so I'm giving you a shout as per your closing lines.

Welcome to JREF, hang out with us, and get to know us and the place, and all, and make lots of friends. My late father was a Navy man, stationed in Japan, and that was, actually, exactly when I had popped into the world. (I wasn't born here though)
