Hey there,

I visited Nara city and the surrounding area end of August 2024. I heard an upbeat melody playing multiple places in the city, different times across the day. I am really eager to figure out what it could have been, but after quite some time spent on research it seems an impossible task. One place that I am certain I hear it was outside a shop on Sanjo-dori.

I heard that in Japan certain places can have their traditional "background music". And the fact that I heard it on multiple places through the day gives me hope that it was something traditionally associated by the place rather than random.

Any suggestions could be highly appreciated.

I often hear tunes over YouTube videos that I like. Some creators state the artist and name of the tune others don't which used to elicit a plea for information from me so I could purchse it from somewhere but with mixed success.

Now I use 'Grab It' and simply download the audio from the video itself if there's a good stretch of it playing. I'd rather buy it legally but it's not always easy due to the content creators lack of information

Good idea. The same melody is playing along this entire walk along Sanjo Dori. Could this be it?

Sounds quite jazzy. I thought the OP was referring to something more traditional. Interesting video though.

I was joking because it was clearly added later. But maybe if he watches enough Nara walk through videos he'll find the sound.
