Just for the record - if there even is one - I would never consider Dir en grey as visual kei any more no matter what they write about. Even their vocalist made it clear in a Shoxx interview (It think it was) that he no longer considers DEG visual... and that was four years ago!! Heck... I don't even consider bands like Despairs Ray, Alice Nine, etc - all of whom have shed serious make-up, hairstyle, and outfits - to be visual. In Japan, such bands would struggle to be referred to as what the J-fans call "light visual."

It all comes down to a matter of esthetics and opinion. To me, the first signs of a "visual exit" are a drop in eye and face make-up. Flashy costumes aside (even Elton John wears costumes), if a bands isn't "dolling up" their face, then...
I mean, would kabuki be kabuki if the performers didn't wear make-up? The whole idea of visual - from the Japanese perspective - is to create an alter-ego; a character through visual design. And it's pretty hard to do that when you come on stage with a splash of eye liner and wearing a T-shirt and lace-up leather pants. And acting crazy or wild on stage isn't visual... it's just plain "rock" or "punk". Every pioneer of glam or visual related rock - David Bowie, KISS, New York Dolls, all had one thing in common... they used make-up as a forefront to a persona that was visual and character oriented.

oh yea, for sure i agree with you on the visual kei vs. not thing... when i talked about diru being a visual band i didnt mean as in VK, but as in they have a lot to do with visuals in the actual songs... for sure theyre not visual kei XD sorry for the confusion, i suck with words

dust to dust was my favorite UnsraW song for the longest time, but i dont even know now XD <3
 
Yeah, Dir en grey is definitely not Visual Kei anymore and I would just laugh if someone still says so. I agree with both of you. I think that alice nine. started their "visual exit" with Zekkei Shoku... Yeah...

I guess its hard to be loyal to both VK and the bands. Yes, it's painful but VK IS dying. Wouldn't you rather still have the band that you love making music than them dying along with VK?
I guess I'm grateful to UnsraW for making the type of music they do and still being visual, but I wonder how long they can maintain this?
Theres alot more I want to say but I'm not feeling too good.

Great news for everyone!

ABEL/KEIN will be released in Japan! The tracks would be the same except LUST would not be there and EVE will be added as a bonus track!

They also updated their OHP with a pop up of this picture



And they have a new background! I love Green!!! ^_^

Well, about "that" person... I think you have to wait for a few days or something...

Her post made me somehow depressed (Like the suits "thing" didn't... XD) but I can exactly understand her. It should not get you depressed though! Look at the bright side: Their B-class oneman is over. We would see them resurrect now. ^_^

Well, I meant that Shou always (most of the time, aside from the spamming) seems to post about how he performs, how he looks at himself in the band and such. And I also think that if he wasn't in the band, UnsraW would be... uh...

Well, anyway, As you all know, ABEL/KEIN second press would be released in Japan with a new song EVE as a bonus track instead of LUST. It would also come with a special DVD although I'm not quite sure of the content.

I wanna buy it!!!

And Rai's blog entry is sad. Someone important to him died. He wishes that they would see each other. T.T

Yeah... I've been listening to this band for 4 months now and I don't know anything about them. Other than their name and music. Which I happen to really like... Black out, S.I.G., and Drain are my favorite songs :>

Yuuki has a blog entry, It's the first this year. Apparently, he said he's been doing underground activites (I doubt if it was productive at all, jk), "experimenting with small light" which I don't think has anything to do with the band at all D:

Anyway, we all know that they have been preparing for the threeman with lynch. and Sadie on 2/10. I know it will be a great night. ^_^

By the way, I ordered Abel/Kein 2nd press and I'm excited to hear EVE and see the SPECIAL DVD... I don't even know what's in it, but I hope it would be sweet ^_^

why...? why do they always do things like that? my favorite bands always tour together, as if missing out on just ONE of them weren't enough... i can no longer type through my tears... :( (orshouldisaymyunhealthyamountsofjealousy)



@ MANRYKYRO- pain. and suffering. and rape. the usual. XD but look up the lyrics... if youre having any trouble i can pm you the lyrics i have, but its not too much... and yay unsraw! sometimes its better to only have heard the music before liking a band, you know? especially in the twisted world of VK... sooo... power to UnsraW! thats all!


and that doggie is ridiculous. i have a minor dog phobia and i still think its adorable...
 
OMG. I had no clue Yuuki was the vocalist of Core the child HOLY CRAP. D: That was just the biggest discovery in my life. I thought they sounded similar. lol, too funny XD

Anyways. Thanks for the info! They seem like a ridiculously awesome band. Lol and I could never like a band if their music wasn't good. It's the most important part to me :3
