Fast Retailing Co., the parent company of Uniqlo, will open a new global flagship store in Tokyo's bustling Shinjuku district on October 25th. This strategic move aims to attract domestic and international shoppers to the popular tourist destination. The new store, named Shinjuku Main Store, will occupy the first three floors of the renovated building that previously housed the Bicqlo megastore. Spanning approximately 4,000 square metres, it will be the largest Uniqlo store in the area. The flagship store will offer a comprehensive range of Uniqlo's products, including items from its European and U.S. collections, typically only available online in Japan. This marks Japan's fourth global flagship store and the first to open in four years.

The original Bicqlo Uniqlo Shinjuku East Exit Store opened in 2012, but it closed in June 2022 following the expiration of the lease. "We also considered the changes in foot traffic due to redevelopment plans around Shinjuku Station," a Fast Retailing spokesperson said. Uniqlo currently operates four stores in the Shinjuku district, including locations near Shinjuku Station and Shinjuku-sanchome Station. However, due to the increase in inbound tourists, all of them are running "at full capacity," the spokesperson said. Although the new store will carry the name "main store," it will not serve as Uniqlo's headquarters but rather as the flagship store for the Shinjuku area
