This question may seem complicated, but I am hoping there are people with some experience with this issue.

I have served in the Air Force for 10 years and will be separating soon due to a bipolar disorder diagnosis. My husband at the same time has received orders to Kadena AB Okinawa . We have been informed that my medical clearance is "automatically disqualified" due to my condition. My understanding is that I can fly myself there and be unsponsered by my husbands command. Has anyone done this? Would I have to get something more than my passport? Etc?

Thank you for any help.

This means no extra funancial allowances for maintaining a spouse and it may mean off-base housing for you.

You need to get over to the Family Support Center (or Air Force equivalent) and consult with them for accurate info and good advice.

Well we have kids, so it will not change his bas/bah/cola/ what-have-you.
I will still have a military id as well. I will talk to them though, I just hope they have something better to say then "don't go".

Between them and the personnel office they should be able to sort out your questions.

So the kids will still be command sponsored? Is that correct? If you're not absolutely sure you might want to double check that bit just for peace of mind.

Yea, they passed all of their clearance stuff. I am the only one with the issues apparently. Still pretty upset. Served for 10 years and when I come forward to get help they kick me out, deny me PCS with my family and basically turn me into some sort of quarantined plague that they want on pills for the rest of my life. sigh
