why was I banned, the "you have been banned message" was rather vague…. Just a question, so i know what not to do.

Never bring up anything to do with politics , PERIOD! Unless it's pure Japanese politics and nothing to do with the US. Even I don't dare to do that , LOL.

If you post how wonderful it is to be a hardcore liberal and how evil anything to do with Trump is , you might not get banned. Play it safe and ignore that thread.

It should have been explained to you. Did you check your email?
As I understand it you posted something off-topic, controversial and not even related to Japan.
There are many other places on the Internet where you can talk about whatever you want with like-minded people.
For topics not related to Japan, try those places.

I assumed it was quite obvious.

You have been repeatedly asked not to post topics relating to U.S. domestic politics. As mdchachi stated above, there are better places for such discourse. For the rest of the world, it is agonising enough to witness America's polarisation and self-destruction. What contributed to your ban was your choice of avatar and profile picture, as well as the topic of celebrating a "true American hero."

Please refrain from raising such topics again.

Take a good long look at the politics of this thread.

I didn't think it was THAT BIG (meaning, ban worthy) to celebrate and remember and post a tribute to someone whom I held great respect for and admired.

Also, I didn't receive an email, probably since I got so much spam mail from this place I had to block the sender.

It's not smart to block email from legitimate sources of email. You can adjust your notification preferences if you don't want the "spam."
You can add to that thread if you like. But seriously if you really want to "own the libs" or get into contentious debates about U.S. politics, this is not the place to do so.

That thread is full of people trashing on trump, Lol. The day I go there to post something bad about trump will obviously be the day my cousin hacks my account (you'd LOVE him, he shares your views!) and also, I didn't really debate about it… I just stated admiration for him

If you can figure out a way to make a logical fact-based argument supporting him rather than blind cult-like support then go for it.

Oh, Foolish, Foolish, moderator

Wanna do this in PMs? I'm not trying to get banned.

Sorry, im not 65 years old, and retired, like my grandparents, so I don't watch the news because I have nothing else to do all day. I just go to the White House page for some news and google "What is going on for conservatives" lol or watch conservative vibes, which i recommend, @Grandpa Frank

GF is right on this. Getting your news directly from a single party, which is effectively what you're doing by going to the White House website for your news, is just about the worst way to get an accurate view of the world, whatever the view of that party. Don't do it if you believe that education involves cultivating a rational, enquiring mind.

I don't trust to get news from the Democratic Party since they are for almost everything I am against. Rights for certain groups of people, Abortion rights, gun control, elimination of freedom of speech, (in modern times, liberal weren't so bad at this a few decades ago). I respect that its their beliefs but I don't agree, and do not support it, so don't wanna get my news from them.

THIS ISN'T A STATEMENT ABOUT MY POLITICAL VIEWS, IT'S JUST A RESPONSE TO LOTHOR.

Why would you seek out news from any party such as the White House or Democrats? That's ridiculous. They are not even journalists. How about starting with the facts? Try finding the most unbiased news sources you can that will present facts and supporting arguments from every side.

When any politician of any stripe starts talking to the public, my eyes glaze over. They almost always just rehash the same talking points once they've been decided upon. What they say and how they say it is not completely inconsequential, but what they actually do is much more salient for my vote. I've read the White House website under the current administration, and there's a lot of marketing (or call it propaganda if you like) there. Of course the Dems do the same, although I'd argue that the current administration does it more aggressively than the previous one. It's their website; I suppose it's their prerogative, but it makes me distrust the message all the more.

It's good to read opinions that run counter to your own from time to time, because other people have valid points, too. Also, ones beliefs can and do change over time. That's just natural.
