U.S. defectors

Mysterious situations will start to pop more and more I bet. I don't think that this guy deserted though. Just doesn't seem to be the way that many defectors would normally take. I bet "Super's" situation was just a super cover up to avoid hassles and what not with dealing with a stinky situation in the North. Just so much easier to label the poor guy as a defector than try to get him back at the time.

You're probably right. He was caught during a border patrol and forced to feel at home. Nevertheless, he'd be facing courtmartial once he decides to leave NK...

Even if he does. He'll probrably face court martial that will favor on his side due to lack or evidence or some other useful technique.

Lack of evidence? Would you trust in military jurisprudence? In times like this? Hell, I'd rather enjoy the rest of my life at some North Korean seaside resort for socialist heroes of labour.
:)

trust? Ahhh, I was thinking that the US military would try to root him out and force (ahem ... help) him come home.

True, I would trust the military if the guy were legit and they were claiming he was a defector.

How long can they actually indict him if they decide to nail him for defection? Doesn't his case fall under any statute of limitation (after nearly 40 years have passed)?

I'm pretty sure that the law for normal situations is 20 years, but this is military law here so I really don't know.

The US should be helping and not hampering this situation.

I agree. Probably they'd just put on a show, some sabre-rattling to eventually acquit him "due to his medical constitution". It's about keeping their face.
