Translation request: Videogame message.

Hello to all!

I'm here to selfishly request a translation for two game's screenshots. I'm fairly new at Japanese, so I am unable to comprehend the message. I know it's a silly request, but I would be very grateful if anyone could help me. Transcripting the message into the romaji works too, since a little research is always helpful to improve your Japanese!

The best I can come up in image 2 is "Ore ga ishi no [?]ku mama" (俺が意思の[?]くまま).

I'd say it's more likely "我意思の逝くまま"

the first one reads
漢たる死に安らぎなし （おとこたるしにやすらぎなし ）
曲折の果てに其は訪れん （きょくせつのはてにそはお とずれん）
人に非ずとも 悪魔に非ずとも （ひとにあらずとも あくまにあらずとも）

the second one reads
我が意思の逝くまま （わがいしのいくまま）

These texts are pseudo-archaic (classic) expression made up by the game creator. I can understand he meant to create a certain atmosphere but I cannot think of matching expressions in English...


漢 is the kanji that many people like to use for 男 these days though originally this character did not have the pronunciation of "otoko".
And I think grammatically 漢たる死 does not make sense.
男たる者、その死に安らぎなし for instance would make more sense.
(I know I'm not expected to point this out here, so I hope someone kind would try to find something to convey what the game creator wanted to convey... )

I'm pretty sure that the first prase in the image #1 would be 漠たる死に[bakutaru shi ni.] ;-)

I've come across a translation, but I'm not sure if it is accurate. What do you think?

"漢たる死に安らぎなし
曲折の果てに其は訪れん
人に非ずとも 悪魔に非ずとも"

"Death's vastness holds no peace. I come at the end of the long road, neither human, nor devil."

"我が意思の逝くまま"

"All bends to my will"


I found it randomly in a very underground site (by searching the Japanese sentence). Do you think the translation is accurate?

No, it's not accurate.

1)As I wrote in my previous post, the first kanji in the image #1 is 漠, not 漢.

2)漠たる would mean more likely 漠然たる-"aimless" in this case, than 茫漠たる-"vast."

3)The adjective 漠たる is modifying the noun 死 in the phrase 漠たる死, so at least it should be "vast death," not "death's vastness."

4)其 as the subject can't mean "I." 其に訪れん might be able to mean "I (will) come (there)," still sounds awkward, though.

5)我が意思のまま without 逝く can mean something like "all bends to my will."

The vagueness in the translation in my first post is from the original's. It does not make much sense, especially the phrase 人に非ずとも 悪魔に非ずとも. 人に非ざるとも 悪魔に非ざるとも could mean "it's said that it will be neither human, nor devil."
