Dude, to be frank to you, i don even know how to type any japanese word. All along i have been trying to decipher the meaning thru online translator and the help of you and fellows friends. I'm really sorry about that.

Don't be surprised that some of the translations I suggested don't really sound like plurals, in Japanese, there are very few plural forms of nouns. You usually deduce from the context whether you're dealing with one single thing or more than one.

Well, I learned something. Up until now I thought 玩具 was only read "gangu"

I've seen it used (for おもちゃ) on a few rare occasions.

And anybody following these posts closely should have picked up what you were hinting at by now. :D

I must not be following closely enough. Even I don't have any idea what I'm hinting at.

Seriously, though, assuming there were no furigana how would you know to read 玩具 as おもちゃ?

[EDIT] Oops didn't actually answer the question.

That's an easy one. I have on some occasions come across 玩具 in some context where it doesn't have furigana, believed it to be おもちゃ, and on closer examination found a repeat of the content of the phrase exists which does have furigana or romaji. On those (rare) occasions I turned out to be correct in my assumption.

For example web-page titles vs. url. Filename in 漢字 vs. directory name in romaji.

[EDIT^2]Actually what I've never seen is 玩具 with がんぐ given in furigana or any other way.

[EDIT^3]Actually actually a better answer would be "Because it bloody nearly always is."
"玩具 おもちゃ" 6,650 Google hits
"玩具 がんぐ" 563 Google hits
I suspect that the actual ratio in terms of 'How somebody Japanese would read it' is higher than that.

Well, of course not. Obviously it is supposed to be read がんぐ and everybody knows that. It is the odd case of using it for おもちゃ that one would need the furigana.
